We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquis “Red” Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquis “Red”, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Decatur Georgia, born and raised on that Georgia Red Clay! Growing up with a mother addicted to drugs profoundly shaped my life and who I am today. This experience, while incredibly challenging, taught me resilience from a very young age. I had to learn quickly how to navigate uncertainty and instability, which has made me adaptable and resourceful in my adult life.

This background also instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and compassion for others, especially those who are struggling. Having witnessed the grips of addiction first-hand, I understand the complexities of such challenges and the impact they can have on families. This understanding has driven me to be nonjudgmental and supportive of others in their times of need.

However, this upbringing also came with its set of emotional hurdles. Trust and forming healthy relationships were skills I had to consciously work on as I grew older. It wasn’t always easy to let others in, but through these experiences, I’ve learned the value of vulnerability and the strength in seeking support.

In a broader sense, these experiences have fueled my passion for helping others. Whether it’s through my career choices or volunteer work, I find myself drawn to roles where I can make a positive difference, particularly for those who are facing challenges similar to what I experienced. In essence, my upbringing, while filled with challenges, has shaped me into a stronger, more empathetic, and compassionate person, committed to making a positive impact in the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art, in its essence, revolves around the power of words and the transformative impact they can have. As an Inspirational Speaker, Author, Poet, and Mentor, my journey is deeply rooted in the belief that stories and words can be powerful catalysts for change and healing. My brand, “Red Inspires,” stands as a testament to this belief. It’s not just a brand; it’s a mission with a sole purpose of inspiring others, no matter the challenges they may be facing.

What sets me apart is the authenticity and depth of my personal story. Growing up with a mother addicted to drugs taught me resilience and empathy in ways that have profoundly shaped my perspective. I use this story not just to connect with my audience but to offer a source of inspiration, motivation, encouragement, and hope. My message is one of overcoming adversity, embracing resilience, and finding strength in our struggles.

Becoming an Inspirational Speaker and Author was far from easy. It involved not only overcoming the challenges of my upbringing but also the hurdles of self-doubt and finding my voice in a crowded space. The journey here required relentless perseverance, a deep belief in my message, and an unwavering commitment to impacting lives. There were moments of uncertainty, but my faith and the support from loved ones kept me anchored.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that our most profound impact often comes from our own experiences and vulnerabilities. Sharing my story wasn’t just about being heard; it was about creating a space where others could see themselves and find hope. It’s about turning pain into purpose and adversity into inspiration.

As for my writing, my goal is not to simply sell books. My ambition is far greater – it’s to sell impact, value, hope, and, most importantly, inspiration. Every word I write, every speech I deliver, is crafted with the intent to inspire others to find their own path of resilience and hope.

I want the world to know that “Red Inspires” is more than a brand; it’s a movement. It’s about showing that no matter what life throws at you, there’s always a way to rise above it and use your story to empower not just yourself but others around you. My journey isn’t just about where I’ve been; it’s about where we can all go when we harness the power of our stories and experiences for a greater good.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, there are several key figures and aspects in my life that I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to, each of whom has played a pivotal role in my journey.

First and foremost, I want to recognize my mother. Despite her struggles with addiction, her life and experiences have been a profound lesson for me. They taught me empathy, resilience, and the complex nature of human struggles. Her journey, in its own way, has been a guiding light in my pursuit of understanding and compassion.

My father deserves immense credit as well. He was my rock during the most turbulent times. His strength, patience, and unwavering support have been the backbone of my growth and achievements. He showed me what it means to stand strong in the face of adversity and the importance of being there for your family no matter what.

I must also give a special mention to my grandparents. They provided a safe haven and a sense of normalcy during my childhood’s more chaotic moments. Their love and care helped shape a sense of stability and normality in my life, teaching me the value of a supportive family.

My wife has been my steadfast partner through thick and thin. Her love, understanding, and companionship have been instrumental in my journey of healing and growth. She has been my confidante, my source of strength, and a constant reminder of the beauty and joy that life can hold.

My children, too, deserve recognition. They are my greatest motivators and the light of my life. Seeing the world through their eyes has given me new perspectives and a renewed sense of purpose. They remind me daily of the importance of legacy and the impact our actions have on the next generation.

Lastly, my relationship with Jehovah has been the cornerstone of my life. My faith has provided me with guidance, comfort, and a sense of purpose. It’s been a source of strength in difficult times and a constant reminder of the values I aspire to live by.

Each of these individuals and my faith have played a crucial role in shaping who I am. They deserve not just a little, but a lot of credit and recognition in my story. They have been my support system, my guiding stars, and the foundation upon which I’ve built my life.
