We had the good fortune of connecting with Shoni Baker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shoni, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important thing i’ve learned during my journey is to TRUST IT

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The arts have always been my life. My mother was a gifted seamstress and my parents enjoyed all types of music and theatre. I was very close to my maternal grandmother who also loved the theatre and also helped spark my love of reading/books. Growing up, I stayed busy in dance, talent shows school/church plays…choir. Around the age of 10, we lost my mother suddenly in a car accident. In those short 10 years I was blessed to hv her, she taught me so much about believing in myself and trusting God. As a mother of two wonderful boys, I strive to do the same with them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve been in Atlanta almost a decade and I’m still discovering all the cool places. The Fox Theater is a must. The Botanical Gardens…. I LOVE a good ole drag brunch so LIPS is a yes. We really like Andretti’s for the go-carts…Poor Calvin’s is also a delicious destination.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
