We had the good fortune of connecting with Shae Pearson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shae, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Early in life, I didn’t set out with the intentions of being a massage therapist and opening a spa. I’ve had many jobs in my lifetime to include being a Paralegal in the Army. However, my mind always wandered back to being a little girl and watching my Father excel at his craft of being an entrepreneur. It was no denying that he passed along to me, the same entrepreneurial spirit. I’ve always had dreams of being the captain of my own ship and once massage therapy was introduced into the equation, it was easy to cultivate my passion of helping others into a business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What makes me stand out from others is my insatiable hunger for success, unwavering dedication to my clients, and boundless passion for what I do. I am genuinely passionate about massage, to the extent that I would gladly offer my services for free if life didn’t come with adult responsibilities. It’s more than just a job to me; it’s my true calling. Every single day, I look forward to the opportunity to assist and connect with my clients, because their well-being is what truly drives me.
I couldn’t be prouder of how much progress I’ve made. When I first started Pearson Care & Wellness, I only offered mobile massages. Those were the days when I would be on the road from sunrise to sunset, traveling all over Georgia to provide in-home massages. Eventually, I expanded my services to include sessions in my basement as well as mobile ones. Now I’m operating from a brick and mortar location. I’ve had this location for three years, and my wellness spa has grown beyond my wildest dreams. I’m thrilled to say that I’m now in the early stages of hiring other massage therapists to keep up with the increasing number of appointments. The future is looking bright, and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead!
Pearson Care & Wellness is where it is today because of a vision. Along this journey, there were moments when progress seemed slow. I would go days without an appointment and I yearned for business to pick up. Through it all, a little voice inside me always encouraged me to persevere. Reaching this point hasn’t been a walk in the park. It required countless prayers and heaps of hard work. But amidst it all, I’ve learned some valuable lessons. First and foremost, I’ve come to believe in myself and my abilities. Taking risks has also been crucial, pushing me outside my comfort zone. Perhaps most importantly, regardless of setbacks or obstacles, I’ve learned to keep moving forward, no matter what.
I want to share something with the world: it’s never too late to discover your passion. Personally, I didn’t find mine until I was 33, but once I did, there was no turning back. So, whatever it is that lights a fire in your heart, go for it with all your might! Don’t let the negativity of others hold you back. And most importantly, I want to emphasize that I never gave up, even when the odds were stacked against me. I found a way when it seemed like there was no way. So, let this be a reminder to never lose hope and keep pushing forward.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Locust Grove and am surrounded by beautiful state parks. We have Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, High Falls State Park in Jackson and also Panola Mountain State Park in Stockbridge. The first stop would be at least one of the parks to take in the beauty, peace and serenity. Afterwards, we’ could catch an outdoor concert at Stockbridge Amphitheater. If it was rainy day, maybe we would visit Escapology, a live escape game/escape room experience in McDonough. Breakfast the next day would definitely be at Two Eggs! in McDonough. The environment and ambiance there is unmatched, not to mention their food is 10 out of 10! We would then stop by Painting With A Twist in McDonough. They offer creative painting parties in a relaxing atmosphere. For lunch, we’d probably pick up some sandwiches or sides from Greedyman BBQ in Jonesboro. Their menu gives you an authentic taste of Kansas City and it’s absolutely delicious. We’d probably close out the evening by going to Lake Jackson, renting a boat and watching the sunset as we catch up on life.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughter Kayla has been my biggest cheerleader. Her unwavering love and encouragement has played a vital role in helping me overcome challenges and stay motivated. Kayla constantly reminds me of my strength and ability to persevere. Her belief in me has been a constant source of inspiration, always pushing me to keep moving forward.
I would also like to shoutout my brother Ronnie. His unmatched support has meant the world to me. I am truly grateful for his steadfast belief in my abilities. Since the beginning (he was my very first paying client), he has been there for me. Whether it was to lend a listening ear or to offer brotherly advice, his uplifting presence has been instrumental in keeping me on track towards reaching my professional goals.
Additionally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my best friend Pat. Pat has been an incredible pillar of support throughout my entrepreneurial journey. No matter what barrier I’ve faced, Pat has been there with open ears and a heart full of encouragement. The unshakable belief in me Pat has shown, has been absolutely priceless.
Last, but certainly not least, I want to express my gratitude to all of my loyal clients. Without their continuous support, Pearson Care & Wellness would not exist. I am genuinely appreciative of each and every client for placing their trust in me and allowing me to be a part of their personal wellness journey.
