We had the good fortune of connecting with De’Andrea Hurd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi De’Andrea, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson that my business/career has taught me is to stay the course no matter what and remain consistent and strategic in your decisions. Being a business owner or having a career can be time consuming and many distractions will come along the way, but staying focused on the end goal, keeping the pace, and the same ingredients you started with that made people love you will ultimately yield a reward and that is doing something that changes the lives of many.

What should our readers know about your business?
I begin my career in resume writing my senior year of college. I took a course where we focused on job readiness and helping fund jobs. I only had one thought,”People will always need work and I can help get them there!” What sets me apart is my strong attention to detail not only on paper but the details in life that will make a strong worker. I pull that out of my clients and put it on paper. I have maintained because clients continue to return with news of getting desired interviews and of course referrals. Keeping the word out, staying current on new techniques and technologies helps me to stay in the know. Along the way the most important thing I’ve learned is that, “My price is my price” and “All money isn’t good money!” Clients intentions are good, but many have to be motivated and coached to be professional and teachable . I want the world to know that no matter how stressful our economy becomes we must all know that we all have purpose and for many it starts with a great resume and a coachable attitude.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This question is very tricky! Many of my best friends live out of the state so I have many different favorite spots where each of them live my number one favorite spot and a place that I do have a best friend is Nashville Tennessee. I love everything Nashville! it’s not about the country it’s about the diversity, it’s about the culture, it’s about the atmosphere, it’s about everything Nashville! We will start our day with brunch at Paula Deens Family Kitchen, then spend the afternoon shopping at Oprymills Mall, maybe even visit the Madame Toussad’s wax museum and later on that evening we would have to catch dinner and a live show. If we were in my hometown we would definitely hit up The Plum Bar or Perfect Note. They showcase awesome local artist. Look them up! In my opinion you find some of the nicest and genuinely fun people at local small lounges and bars. If ever In Birmingham, AL or Nashville, TN get local that’s where the culture is.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First shout out to My God for life and life more abundant. I could not do it be any of this without your HolySpirit. I would like to dedicate this article to my Grandmother Margaret J. Hurd. She was my forever Gem that was always supportive no matter what the venture, My first teacher and a faithful client of any service I offered. I would also like to shoutout Xavian Tate “Future Dr.” for recommending me, such an honor. I also would like to thank my silent mentors who have been giving me support and life support when they didn’t even know it. To every client you are the reason I do the work I do. It allows me to share in your journey of success and to see greatness be presented in the workforce and beyond. Lastly, my friends and family, forever grateful for your support.
