We had the good fortune of connecting with Rayymon Beatz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rayymon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been in love with music. Music is my number 1 priority. I started making beats in high school and I wanted to take a step further. My friend, DJ KV, started DJing and he took me under his wing. After training me to DJ, I decided that this was something I wanted to do. In the beginning of my sophomore year in college, my big brother and mentor DJ King Kai, would take me under his wing as well train me even more. After that, I bought my equipment in December of 2019 and the rest is history.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like what sets me apart from other DJs is my ability to read a room. Every time that I have a set, whether it’s at venue or virtual, I can tell how the energy is set so I match the energy with the right music I play so it doesn’t “ruin the vibe”. However, it was not a easy road. I missed out on multiple opportunities by not being prepared and ready. Tying into that, I learned my lesson by taking my equipment everywhere I go.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, there is nothing to do in my city of Douglas, Ga. It is INSANELY small but I usually spend a major amount of time in Atlanta due to me attending Clark Atlanta. In that case, there are many places to go. Where I would say eat is Slutty Vegan. That is a superb restaurant to eat at. On top of that, the owner is a Clark Atlanta alum. Another place to go for entertainment is Top Golf. Nothing playing golf and eating wings with your friends. One place I would say not to go is Lenox. HIGHLY overrated.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout-out Black Diamond Entertainment. I would not be where I am today without y’all. I also want to shout DJ King Kai for grooming me into becoming the official DJ for Clark Atlanta University. Another big shoutout to Satch Flipped It and DJ Ricoveli as well.
