We had the good fortune of connecting with AMY BLOUNT and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi AMY, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
To be honest, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as success reflects your hearts desire. In my opinion, some of the most essentials elements for success include:
- Goal Setting: Clearly defining your goals provides direction and motivation. Setting both short-term and long-term goals helps you stay focused and track your progress.
- Hard Work and Perseverance: Success often requires dedication, effort, and the ability to persevere in the face of challenges. Consistent hard work over time can lead to significant achievements.
- Continuous Learning: Remaining open to learning and adapting to new information and experiences is crucial. This adaptability helps you stay relevant and make informed decisions.
- Resilience: Life is filled with setbacks and failures. Being able to bounce back from disappointments, learn from failures, and persist in the face of adversity is a key trait of successful individuals.
- Time Management: Effectively managing your time allows you to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve your goals. Time is a valuable resource, and successful individuals often have strong time management skills.
- Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and embrace new technologies or ideas is crucial in a rapidly evolving world. Flexibility enables individuals to navigate different situations successfully.
- Passion and Purpose: Pursuing activities and goals that align with your passions and values can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment, increasing the likelihood of success.
- Self-Reflection: Regularly reflecting on your actions, goals, and personal growth helps you make informed decisions, identify areas for improvement, and stay on the path to success.
- Responsible Risk-Taking: Calculated and well-thought-out risks can lead to innovation and growth. Being willing to step out of your comfort zone and take risks is often a characteristic of successful individuals.
It’s important to note that success is a subjective concept, and individuals define it in various ways. What works for one person may not work for another, and the journey to success is often unique for each individual
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Amy Blount, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, was immersed in a world defined by vibrant colors, bold style, art, history, and design from an early age. Growing up as a sassy girl, on the island she acquired a deep understanding of textiles under the guidance of her prestigious grandmother and aunt, who designed intricate garments worn by influential women of empowerment on the Island of Nassau, Bahamas. Although, Amy eventually settled in the United States, her formative years were marked by summers spent as a young apprentice, honing the craft of fabric design and precision cutting to create clean, elegant, and timeless silhouettes. Over the years, she embarked on her own creative journey by starting a women’s clothing boutique called AMI DORI while collaborating with others and blueprinting her transformation, establishing herself as a formidable force in the fashion world. She holds a degree in Business from Strayer University from State of Pennsylvania, which she strategically combined with her participation in the Macy’s Accelerator program to unlock her potential and gain wider access to her target audience. Amy is also the author of “Imagine Her Winning,” a book designed to inspire others to achieve success even in their darkest moments. Despite her employment as an educator in the school system, Amy pursued her passion during the evenings to gain opportunity in the fashion industry. However, life took an unexpected turn when her spouse suffered a brain injury stroke. Unbeknownst to her, during this challenging time of trusting the healing process, the next significant venture was waiting to emerge as she pressed to find her way during the recovery not knowing that the next big thing was around her waist. Amy launched her new adventure “Signature Woman Custom Belt Collection” in 2020, an exclusive line to interrupt the common woman. She began branding her collection at various well-known fashion shows in her local city, including Jessica McClurkin Couture Designer Show. Her brand quickly gained recognition and was embraced by influential figures such as Shannon Smith owner of Beauty 21 Hair School, Alicia A. Williams, LLC, Southern Crescent Women in Business, VoygeATL, Celebrity Stylist Teaira Blount, Yvonne Rowe Atlanta, Taliah Waajid Natural Hair Show, Maranda Curtis, Karen Clark Sheard, Jekalyn Carr Le’Andria Johnson, Monica Lisa Stevenson, Star Thomas Personal Stylist Agency among others.
Signature Woman is her strength in unintentional circumstances she wasn’t prepared for.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This place is superb. I’m all about a good brunch place with high energy. The Select Atlanta, is the spot that will not disappoint. It’s more of a contemporary continental cuisine with french twist, creating an upscale but casual atmosphere. The decor is so beautiful, you can have a pretty cool indoor/outdoor patio experience on a Saturday evening with your girlfriends. Great place to celebrate a birthday party.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This amazing accomplishment is dedicated to every person that has supported me through my journey of success. Over the last few years, I have overcome so many obstacles to achieve this win. None of it would be possible without a strong community.
