We had the good fortune of connecting with Tevin Buchanan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tevin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to go a different route in life due to unforeseen circumstances, risks, misfortune and personal issues. I like to against the grain a little to make it make sense. Often times if you flock with the birds that are going the same way you may not receive the same space given to fly. I wanted to make sure that I was giving myself a fair chance in developing, ambition, and living a honest but great life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m very rare, one of a kind. Jack of all trades. You will mostly like meet someone one like me once in life. I had to go through a lot of obstacles to stand where I am today. There have been so many setbacks from jobs, educational reasons, friends, society, a pandemic, deaths in my family. This had caused a major trauma effect over my life. Words from a few wise people such as my grandmother, mother, father, sister, aunts, uncles, & cousins. It all made a big difference. It was very hard to accept some of the things thrown my way. Some of the lessons that came with my experiences such as resiliency, persistence, and assertiveness lead me to challenge myself. What I want the world to know is that every step you take, no matter how far you want to go. As long as you have faith the size of a mustard seed. Anything, and I do mean “ANYTHING”, is possible. Achieving what’s on your mind and in your heart can be physically manifested into your life as long as you believe.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So this is very easy. For breakfast a must have WHATABURGER. Being that Atlanta has just opened two franchise either or just as long as I have their breakfast. I love this place called Tastee Spoon close by the Perimeter Mall here. This is a Jamaican cuisine. Here you have it all. Good music, drinks, sometimes there is a live dj in place. In my view some of the most exciting places that I have been, are at the top of Stone Mountain seeing the beautiful scenery, better yet Piedmont Park looking across the open areas or people enjoying life in nature.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
GOD #1. My entire family, it all starts from who you were raised around, family will always come first with me. We may not speak or talk everyday but we will be able to always pick up where we left off. The friends that I do have that have helped me this far and that are still with me. My very own book that I published called “Write”
