We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Krieger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karen, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say it’s my determination and the clear vision that I have for my life. I have always wanted to create a lifestyle that includes both supporting myself and doing something that I truly love and have a passion for. Working with animal’s everyday has been a dream come true!
And it’s not just working with the animals, the people who work with me are exceptional! We have attracted people who wanted to create a “community” where they could continue to contribute even after they left their careers. They are all “crazy” animal lovers who are interested in staying fit, healthy and love the idea of spending each day caring for animals.
The most important factor behind our brand success is our commitment to always choose to live life with integrity. Our team of pet sitters and walkers are focused on providing the most loving, caring and safe environment for our families’ most cherished members, their pets. We also believe that our clients deserve to have an exceptionally positive experience when working with Pets and Peeps and I think we achieve that.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a “family style”, woman owned pet sitting and dog walking business in Roswell GA. Our goal for our company is to provide a warm, loving experience with every client we serve. We give our clients the confidence knowing that we have provided the best care for their pets in a healthy, atmosphere where they can thrive. Our boarding and overnight care is offered in our own homes and in our client’s. We also provide drop in visits for daily/weekly dog walking, feeding and med care. Our services also cover the care of bunnies, kitties, birds, fish, hamsters, Guiney Pigs and yes, chickens!
Additionally, we provide pet taxi services to grooming, vet appointments, pet pick up and drop off at the client’s residence.
What sets us apart from other companies is the fact that our team of sitters and walkers are all mature, experienced people who have had professional careers and understand the importance of providing impeccable customer service. They are people who are interested in staying physically and emotionally heathy and have a desire to create a community of mutual trust and respect. Our business experience, strong family values, commitment to doing the “right” thing for our clients has always been our strengths.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Well, working 7 days a week doesn’t allow for much free time but, I love Canton Street in Roswell. There you can park and walk to many restaurants, retail stores and art galleries, it has something for everyone. In the summer they host Alive After Five. A huge street party with music, food and drink. Give us a little itinerary – say it was a weeklong trip: Monday – Breakfast at my house then a long walk around my lake. Tuesday – Go spend the day at Lake Lanier, rent a boat and just relax Wednesday – Head to the Georgia Mountains for the day. Thursday – Go downtown to visit the aquarium. Friday, just chill at my house.Saturday – Go to downtown Atlanta, have sushi at High Roller Sushi restaurant. Sunday – chill at home in the morning, hike Vickery Creek and eat great burgers at Moxie’s In your view what are some of the most fun, interesting, exciting people, places or things to check out? Fox Theatre – love it! The High Museum, anything outdoors, canoe on the Chattahoochee, ride bikes on the Greenway, take in the sights, food and people on the Beltline. There are outdoor concerts all over Atlanta.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have supported me over the years. My sister Deborah Karns who has been my business advisor and cheerleader. The incredible people who have been with me every step of the way to grow this business: Michael Junod, Donna Hyerdall, Ruth Weber, Lynn Avrett, Jonathan Jones, Dinah Alexander, Mary Duval, Karen Thompson and Lois Price. And finally, to Judith Ross, my SCORE mentor and Becky Eberly of Bluestone Business Solutions, thank you for keeping me in check and teaching me that understanding my business and planning for the future is invaluable!
