Hi Gwen, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is always an interesting topic for me. I am never afraid of taking risks when I can see a clear path ahead or have an idea in mind for my end goal. Having said that, things don’t always work out the way I plan or envision them going. There have been many victories and failures. However, I would not have had the opportunity to learn from challenges and experience success without taking risks.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
First of all, let me confess that learning to cook was not a pleasant experience for me. I always enjoyed eating delicious food, but when my mother determined that it was time for me to learn how to prepare it… Well, let’s just say it was a challenge! As a young girl, I viewed cooking as nothing more than another chore. However, after much practice and patience, I grew very fond of it. I found that most of my enjoyment actually came from the delight others experienced as they tasted my food. My desire to bring pleasure to the palates of many is what inspired me to pursue a career as a Personal Chef. I had several clients with different needs. Some clients had health concerns and wanted to eliminate or minimize certain foods and spices. Others were looking for variety in dishes, as they had grown weary of eating the same ole meals each day. While cooking, I carefully examined spice blend ingredients and quickly found it necessary to create my own blends.

I have provided a line of spice blends that not only offer a variety of flavors to create unique, delicious meals, but also are FREE from gluten, fillers, sugar, MSG, GMO, additives, and preservatives. From my clients’ homes to yours, I am pleased to bring to you Hillari Moon gourmet spice blends. I am often asked, “Where did the name come from?” Hillari Moon is a combination of names from two wonderful women in life. Hillari is my sister and Moon is my mother’s nickname. These spice blends are not only made with love, but the name is a reminder of family, which is dear to my heart.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has been my greatest supporter. He is in full support of all my endeavors. I get down sometimes when it get’s hard. My husband always seems to encourage by reminding me of my wins and what I’m capable of. I am grateful to have him in my corner.
