We had the good fortune of connecting with Nat & Mia Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nat & Mia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We have wildly different skill sets – we know this because we grew up together! As sisters who easily pass as twins, you could never meet two people more unlike each other.

Building our business was a reflection of our childhood and complementary personalities. We each see in the other the strengths and abilities that we lack, and finding a way to combine our forces and provide an output to the world is truly a dream come true.

From building doll houses and creating home movies together, we now help other businesses thrive in the digital space with the help of Mousse. We wanted to create a world where creativity and abundance meet efficiency and results, and here we are.

What should our readers know about your business?
Being a business owner is a bigger challenge than I could ever have anticipated. Staying true to our brand’s values and focusing on what propels us forward is a daily intentional practice! It’s so easy to get caught-up in day-to-day tasks and neglect the big picture. I’m constantly reviewing my own priorities and behaviors and deciding if it is the best possible path for Mousse.

We take pride in what we are building with Mousse. It is our own way to enact change and impact in our corner of the world. We believe Social Media exists to provide value to society, and build each of our clients’ strategies with this belief as our North Star.

Clients who work with us can count on creative, custom approaches that will elevate their brand and hit their audiences right on the spot! Each business is unique, and we work hard to make that brilliance show.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is many cities in one! We’ve been lucky to have friends and family come visit from abroad, so we have our tour guides hats ready to go.

Saturday is for Midtown and the big-city feel that it brings: From jogging at Piedmont Park to The Nook for a cool beverage.
From strolling the GA Tech campus to Happy Hour at Midcity Cafe. From dinner at Lyla Lila to a play at The Fox Theater.

On Sunday, we could go cheer Atlanta United at the Mercedes Benz Stadium, then catch a show at The Tabernacle!

During the week, I’d dedicate each day to a different neighborhood. Little Five Points for people watching, Buford Highway for the most authentic cuisine in town, and of course East Atlanta Village for a pint of beer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mousse would simply not exist without the support of our parents, Cibele & Fernando. Growing up they incentivized each of us to be exactly who we are, and also gave us the space to bond and create as sisters.

While our parents always encouraged us to take risks, it was them who took the biggest risks of all: in 2014 they decided we would pack our bags and immigrate into the United States. This move provided us with the opportunities and connections that made founding Mousse possible.

And of course a shout out to the one who inspired our brand name and values; Mousse Mel, our adorable childhood dog.
