We had the good fortune of connecting with Fred Lloyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fred, how do you define success?
I define success as being self-disciplined, overcoming fear and accomplishing concrete goals. In addition, success is having self-belief that you can achieve a goal and understanding that you have done your best.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the content creator behind Tailored to the Kicks. I display short reels/videos and photos on social media (Instagram & TikTok) that showcase my passion for sneakers. My social media content shows how I tailor sneakers to stylish outfits and my motto is – Welcome to Tailored to the Kicks, where every fit starts with the kicks. Overall, my sneaker collection is diverse, and I take pride in having a diversified assortment of sneakers. My passion for sneakers began at an early age (Elementary/Middle School) when I first saw the Jordan Flint 13’s. Full circle, I own that classic pair today and that sneaker is a staple in my collection. For me, I am an enthusiast of classic “OG” sneakers (Jordan 1 Chicago’s, Nike Air More Uptempo, Air Max Penny 1, etc.) and an admirer of the unique/trendy sneakers (Yeezy 450s, Travis Scott Air Max 1, Jaetips Saucony, etc.). Sneakers can tell a story of a memorable experience, showcase your fascinating style and/or provide the perfect comfort for your feet.
I got to where I am today with my sneaker collection through research and an ever learner on the engineering being the shoe. When people visit my social media platforms, I want them to know that sneakers are an expression of style. For me, every outfit starts with the kicks!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay, got it! I live in Atlanta, GA where the culture is rich and there is always something to do. My itinerary consists of the following – Sunday, we will start the morning with church at Word of Faith Cathedral and hearing a God given message from Bishop Bronner to enrich our lives. Then we would have brunch at Paschal’s to enjoy the Southern Soul Food. Monday we will grab pizza from Fellini’s, check out the local sneaker boutiques – Wish Atlanta, Social Status or A Ma Maniere and journey through Little Five Points. Tuesday will be a day to chill and enjoy food from Zama Mexican Cuisine. Wednesday and Thursday would include more relaxation and connection with nature by hiking Kennesaw Mountain or taking a run on the Beltline. Friday we will enjoy a good steak at 101 Steak and depending on the season of the year, we would catch a sporting event – Atlanta Hawks, Braves or Atlanta United or hang out at The Battery Atlanta. Saturday will be a day spent in the city enjoying food and the rooftop at Ponce City Market and Old Fourth Ward. Throughout the week, each fit will be tailored to the kicks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife (Kayla) deserves a special shoutout! She encouraged me to share my vantage on sneakers, how I tailor all outfits to the kicks, and showcase my collection of sneakers. Over the years, I have collected several unique, sentimental sneakers and she has truly encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and express myself through “Tailored to the Kicks”.
