We had the good fortune of connecting with RAMA-don and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RAMA-don, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Lansing Michigan a place full of desperation and promise. It’s an anomaly just like me and it is also the most inter-racialized place that I know of. Unlike our big brother Detroit. I was off the porch at a young age running from a dysfunctional household. These few simple elements played a huge part in my character and world view.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Multi-insrumentalist, Producer, Rapper and I have been making music for over 30 years. I am the poster child of a starving artist as I can’t say I have made a dime on music after all these years. I blame no one but myself for not having the right song or business chops and will continue to chase my tail until I leave this God forsaken place its what I do to stay alive period. So over the past couple years I have been expanding and branching out the scope of my musical playing field in hopes to be inspired as well as God willing inspire some other musicians to keep going. I started a youtube channel were I have bands come to my house and do a Tiny Desk-ish kind of set. I run all the audio Into Protools and take 2 to 3 camera angles. It’s a full on production lights camera action and it’s Lot of work. I have some great bands on there and I love that I have been able to provide them with something they can take and run some promotion for themselves. I of course have the projects I am directly involved with like my solo rap stuff RAMA-don. The Rap rock group I’m in SIXTEEN BULLETS were I play lead guitar as well as production. Then there is my brother singer songwriter DUBMACK whom I have been working with for 20 plus years. The name of my youtube channel is NO-TVNOW. https://youtube.com/@no-tvnow785

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Haha well first off we would spend some time at my house as it is a full on venue with a stage, lighting, PA and full backline of instruments. We do live shows/parties there aside from the youtube stuff I do.. Next we would go to Piedmont Park and the belt Line most likely on some bikes if weather permits. I am a huge foodie so we would have to catch a couple of my favorite spots like Nuevo Laredo Cantina which is hands down the best Mexican in Atlanta. Mediterranean Grill for the best falafel and Hummus. Then we will have to round it up with The Red Elephant in Marietta for the best Thai food. Hopefully there will be Punk Black show in town that week as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out all Living Artists who live to make Art. Whether I know you or not you get all of my respect and you are my inspiration as you let me know I’m not alone.
