We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Core Values Psychotherapy was born in March 2023! Core Values Psychotherapy is set apart from other practices because of the knowledge gained from many aspects of the mental health realm. As mentioned before, I’ve had the privilege of working both in micro and macro sides of social work. I have also gained crucial experience in the non-profit community sector and private practice settings. All of this experience combined makes for a dynamic clinician who is well-versed in meeting clients where they are and seeing them through actual change. The journey to get to CVP was far from easy and challenges were riddled along the way. Each challenge made for a good life lesson. The biggest lessons are good things take time, control only what you can control and let go of what you can’t, and be present when the good things come to fruition!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In the realm of mental health, there are plenty of things that can be done around Atlanta!

Piedmont Park walks. It’s warm out! Bask in it!
PuttPutt Shack: A fun little escape for a pick-me-up.
The Eastern for live music.
Tallulah Gorge for a little escape from the city.
Ponce City Market for shopping and good eats.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Core Values Psychotherapy was not built in a day! It was first a dream, then there was work, then it became a reality (and more work). There were plenty of people that helped me along the way. It involved my professors from Georgia State University, my previous boss from the Vision Performance Center (who was amazing at being so flexible with my school schedule and motivating me to become my own boss), my parents and parents-in-law and friends. I know there are more to name, but it definitely took a community to motivate me.
