We had the good fortune of connecting with Preme Archives and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Preme, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is life in all honesty. I really see what’s going on you know? The ones holding it together by any means & waiting for the weekend to enjoy a long week with friends & family. I think that’s what really matters, it’s not the money and fame but being someone to love & look up too.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe I’d like to be remember for so much more but I am a professional recording artist. I make all kinds of music but the core is heavily influenced by old school hip-hop like outkast, jay-z, UGK & also I have a background in jazz, rnb, etc. I believe my biggest lesson I’ve learned during my music career was simply to be yourself. There’s already so many people trying to portray this image of what an artist is supposed to be or sound like so I’m a saturated world you have to stand out somehow right? Authenticity, you do it that way. Challenges happen everyday of your life not just in your career field so you need to accept that they will be apart of the journey & once you get there then there’s nothing that can stop you. My story is similar to most underprivileged kids, I’m the statistic, minority & underdog but I don’t lose in this story you know? I’ve overcome so many things in my life with only the grace of God so I just want everyone going through tuff times that it’ll be ok, I’m the living proof.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m honestly a big gate keeper & I look having my spots to myself but I will say ponce is a really chill spot to get some fresh air, food, drinks etc. & there’s also this really chill spot called ‘Black coffee shop’ off peters street if you’re ever in the area, stop by. You might find me at lil 5 points or downtown Decatur but that’s all I can give you guys.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God, family & the universe are the only ones I can thank for getting me this far. They all got a chance to help me advance in life in some way throughout time and so I give grace to the ones who truly looked out for me. I also want to give a special shoutout to the woman who saved my life during one of the most trying times of my life. If it wasn’t for her care & grace I don’t know if I’d be doing this interview today. She goes by mama K.
