Meet Jessica Foyah | Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Foyah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
5 years ago I started my own fitness journey after dealing with personal loss in my life including the end of my marriage. After my divorce I started to take my workout habits more seriously and started working with a trainer. As I started this journey I became even more excited about my journey and took intentional steps toward health and wellness. This feeling in combination with the supportive people around me helped to jumpstart my decision to become a trainer and fitness instructor.
I started training part time while also working my full time job in higher education. I did this for about 3 years before deciding to leave my job completely to become a full time personal trainer. It was a tough decision and it’s been a journey however I wouldn’t take any of it back.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and StepAerobics Instructor and the owner of Unique Fitness LLC.
My fitness journey started as my own personal empowerment journey during a tough period in my life of divorce and personal loss. Fitness started as my form of therapy and transformed into a passion for helping other women feel empowered and see the potential of their physical abilities. I have extensive experience with one-on-one training and group training with my focus on personal training, group classes, and group programs to help clients fulfill their fitness goals. My training sessions and programs include strength training, cardiovascular exercises, mobility as well as meal planning options for clients.
As a PT I help to empower women to start, grow, & own their fitness journey. I specialize in servicing women who are beginners and/or newly returning to fitness. I help women to understand what it takes to meet their short & long term fitness goals by taking measurable nutrition & fitness steps. My motto is “it’s a journey not a race.”
I also specialize in step instruction as a step aerobics instructor and focus my classes on providing a heightened class experience by moving strategically to the rhythm of music while experiencing a high energy class environment that maximizes each client’s calorie burn.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that life is about balance. As an entrepreneur and trainer, I often tell my clients to take a rest day and find balance, but I find myself constantly on-go and not taking the time I need to myself. As an entrepreneur my mind is always on-go and thinking about what’s next. Over time my body has reminded me to rest and I’m beginning to find that balance.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a pretty low-key person so if my friend was coming to the city to visit we would go to eat, as I love food.
I often take my friends to “Red Pepper Taqueria” , a restaurant that focuses on Mexican cuisine with great drink specials and fresh margaritas. Their nachos are humongous!
I would also take my friends for a morning or evening workout. One of my favorite locations is Delta Life Fitness Gym for women in Johns Creek. I love it because it provides an environment specifically for women complete with a Children’s Corner for the kids to enjoy. Their facility also offers bonus events for the members and guests such as Ladies Night Fitness classes. I may be slightly biased because I was an instructor at this gym but it’s certainly worth checking out!
Lastly, I would take my friends to a fun Karaoke vibe at Impulse Lounge in Norcross Ga. The food is great, the wings are a favorite of mine, the music gets you moving and it’s always full of people!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my big brother Joshua Lewis who helped give me the courage to pursue my dream full time and make the move to ATL, as well as my mentor and trainer Randall Pickett, who believed in me and pushed from the start.
Lastly I want to dedicate this shoutout to all of those who have supported my business along the way; my friends and clients especially!
