We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor of my success is that it is a true “boutique” business. I have a personal relationship with each of my clients and an even deeper relationship with their words. It starts with the very first conversation. I think from the first conversation my love of writers and writing shows through and writers feel safe sharing their story and their work with me. And, it helps that I am an active writer too, so I share their pain and sense of accomplishment when they get it right.

Alright, so let’s move on to what keeps you busy professionally?
I love the written word and every aspect of my work surrounds that love. I think writing is the last place that we can find truth among the dizzying amount of lies in the world. As an author, I write about things that others don’t. My novel Vicissitudes is loved by a mass audience but mass publishers were too afraid of it. I believe it is a book that will be found by one open-hearted reader at a time. The book was published by an indie press, Transgress Press out of Oakland. I was honored that the trans publisher understood that my goal was to humanize and celebrate trans people. It was written from the perspective of a non-trans person who encounters a trans man and falls in love. It will be translated into Spanish later this year. I am also hoping to release an audiobook. Those who have read it, say it should be a movie. It was a labor of love to attempt to open hearts and minds. Also, I am working on a compilation of my blogs from the Pandemic called Isolation. It should be released by the end of the year. I want the world to know that every word I write is in hopes of expanding the capacity for love and understanding in the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has some of the best restaurants in the country. My favorites are Nam on the high end, and Planet Bombay in Little Five Points if you love Indian food! I also love Murphys for Brunch in Virginia Highlands. I would take them there after a day at Phipps Plaza and Lenox Mall! I always avoid the freeways and drive through the gorgeous streets of Atlanta. There are so many beautiful homes in Virginia Highlands, Decatur, and The Cascades. Lenox Mall and Buckhead are the best place to people-watch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I could not have written either of my novels without the Fiction Intensives Critique Group in Atlanta, with Carol Lee Lorenzo at the helm. It is a strong literary group of writers that are deeply committed to their work. I so loved the experience of workshopping my two novels with them. I fell in love with the experience as well as the process of writing and wanted to support other writers the way that I was supported. I also must shout out to my spouse and best friend for their support and tireless reading and re-reading!
