We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Childrey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
There are very few things in life that you can control. Starting my business is the first big step towards taking control of my own life. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life working and building someone else’s dream. My business will give me the freedom to shape my life as I see fit. To change and adapt as I grow as a person. Chemistry Travel LLC was specifically created to nurture my love for travel. I hope to encourage new travelers to see the world by sharing my travel experiences. I believe everyone should travel. New environments spark new flames, and this world really is a sight to see.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Chemistry Travel LLC is all about travel custom to our clients. Whether we have a budget or no budget. I want to find amazing travel experiences that encourages new and old clients to want to travel more. We offer experiences that we’ve experienced ourselves to ensure client satisfaction. I am really excited about our new offer. Chemistry Travel is now offering car rental. We have one vehicle currently listed on Turo and offered as a private rental option to clients in the Richmond and Hampton area. Our goal is to build a fleet of 5-10 vehicles that may service our direct clients. I’d also like to expand to include rental properties via Airbnb. All of my business ideas are derived from basic knowledge obtained via reading, YouTube and podcasts (Rich Dad, Poor Dad; Get Good with Money; See You at the Top, The Richest Man in Babylon; The Magic of Thinking Big; Earn Your Leisure Podcast, etc). Was it easy? Is it easy? No, but I am learning that the discomfort that I feel in those big moments just mean great things lie on the other side. I’ve learned that owning a business actually requires more time than a regular 9-5. Takes a lot more effort but the journey is more worthwhile when that effort is building your own dreams. You can do anything you put your mind to. Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right. – Henry Ford

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was in town visiting, I would take them to Bowtie Cinemas for a movie, visit the Rocks for an evening in the sun, Pig & Brew for a fish fried dinner, and Stadium for drinks and a night of dancing! I love movies/tv, I am a huge binge watcher. I enjoy time outside on great weather days. Sitting on the porch or out at the park. My favorite food is Soul Food. Nightlife in the city is pretty strong and I love to dance. Easy to have a good time bar hopping in Shockoe Bottom.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my Home Team! Family and friends that have always told me that I would be great. For keeping me encouraged and headed in the right direction. Shoutout to the many authors around the world that have written the small collection of personal development, self-help, financial literacy and real estate books that have provided me with so much information on how I might change my life for better. It’s true! Everything you need to know to be great is really in a book. I have learned so much. I can literally see my life changing before my eyes. So, the most important shoutout is to the little girl inside of me that is beginning to awaken and get back to fulfilling her dreams.
