We had the good fortune of connecting with KwaShonne Markez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KwaShonne, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
Honestly, the end goal is more beneficial for the people around me than for me. I want to shift the power from major label corporations who don’t care about the artist to the artist who pours their soul into their passion. As of this month, my uncles and I officially launched our music agency SMG. The purpose of our agency is to Disrupt the music business and prepare independent artists to be their own bosses while also providing services to any artist who may need them. Once I get to the end of the road of my career I want to be known as a game-changing artist through my music and the opportunities I created for the artist that will come behind me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Hip-Hop and R&B artist. I’ve released a lot of music on all major platforms. My third project “Instructions For The Lover” just released and it’s definitely my best work to date. This album is leaps and bounds beyond anything that came before it, It’s not just music it’s an experience and that’s what sets me apart from others. If you’re reading this article I encourage you to join my private therapy session in “Instructions For The Lover” to see what I mean.

I owe where I am today purely to my work ethic. I don’t look at myself as the most talented artist out here although I do view myself as the most hard-working. I study and practice my craft every day, pushing myself to reach new levels. I’v learned that nothing that takes a lot of work to be great is easy. Like I said I never looked at myself as the most talented, I’ve seen true prodigies. In the same light, those prodigies have praised me for the works I’ve created. All the obstacles that popped up I overcame them by never giving up and persevering even when it seemed like the only option was giving up.

The lessons I learned on this journey are believe in yourself even when the ones you love the most don’t, be willing to take constructive criticism, and stay true to yourself. I want the world to know that this is only the beginning.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day one of KwaShonne’s getaway would consist of a tour of downtown Atlanta. Showing off Centennial Park and the surrounding attractions. Day two would consist of showing one of my favorite parts of Atlanta the Westside. Would spend time in the Westend showing off the AUC and the surrounding black-owned businesses(Slutty Vegan, Tassili’s).
Day three would be a trip to Stone Mountain and the Belt Line.
Day four would be a shopping tour visiting, Cumberland, Atlantic Station, Lenox, and Tanger Outlet.
Day five would be a night in the Studio at 4THPARK Studios.
Day six would be a night out in the city consisting of Bowling (Painted Pin) and bar hopping.
Day seven would be a day of recovery and brunch at Johnny’s Chicken and Waffles.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this Shoutout to the SMG Agency. Composed of my uncles, Antwon Davis, Ontario Martel Davis I (Dj Grip Grain), Thomas Brown II (G-Won). These men have mentored me and groomed me throughout my music career. All the success and smart business moves that I made in these last 6 years have in some way been influenced by one if not all of them. They pushed me to be better each and every time iv stepped up to the plate. I’m horned and grateful to be their nephew and the fourth head of The SMG Agency.
