We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassandra Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I just felt like if I can work 45-50 hours per week to help fulfill someone else’s business and dream then why can I not apply that same energy to my vision, ya kno? At some point the light just came on for me and it showed me I can have and do whatever. The choice is yours.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always had a thing for fashion. When you look good you feel good. I specialize in embroidery and I fell in love with it over the years being a store manager for 12+ years at one of, if not, the largest headwear retailers in America. I fell in love with the process, I fell in love with customer service, and I fell in love with the idea of THIS IS WHAT I WANNA DO! While I was still at the job I was seeking for embroidery specific jobs available but the company was making personnel changes and that came with a lot of broken promises and wishful thinking. So, I decided to invest in myself. I purchased a commercial embroidery machine and the rest was history. After I purchased the machine I did battle with myself for months about leaving my job to have more time to pour into what I was creating. I was terrified. I didn’t know if I was making the right decision. I didn’t know how people would receive the business. I still had bills and mortgage to pay and that every two weeks pay was nice. It gave security. After praying for months I finally decided to walk away from a job I loved into a life I loved. It was a sacrifice but life will always be “whatever you’re willing to do or not do will be your life.” So I jumped. We use the butterfly a lot because it really symbolizes us. We went through a time of growth and development. While in the time it wasn’t the prettiest stage. It was hurtful, it was stressful, and it was sooooo confusing. But, during that time it molded me into something greater than I’ve ever been. The butterfly. Ready to take on wherever these wings can take me. God really showed up and showed out…and I know He’s not done yet. Be fearless and if you’re scared do it anyway. Trust in yourself and keep positive people around you. Stay grounded and pray and ask God for everything. BELIEVE that it’s done and move like it’s done. Every king has to carry a cross.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Everybody that knows me knows imma eat! The first stop would be food! Flying biscuits, Texas Roadhouse, or a lil 1,2 hibachi steak and shrimp… count me in! I’m more of a chill type person so next would be like a zoo, aquarium, or some kind of museum. Real chill. I like to just take everything in. Sports! We would definitely have to hit some type of event. I would prefer it be to the colonial life arena to see who Dawn Staley and the girls whoop up on. this week. Before the trip is over though we’ll have to get in the lab and create a 1 of 1 piece that they can take back with them. So that means we’re going to the fabric store, yaaaaaaaaay!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my circle. The group of people around me deposit so much love and positive energy into me. They motivate me to keep goin and go harder. They see things in myself sometimes that I don’t and they help me stay focused on the bigger picture when I get a lil side tracked. When you have quality people around you that you can learn from and that pour into to you on top of how you treat yourself.. there’s no better feeling.
