We had the good fortune of connecting with Kahssan Whitehurst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kahssan, what makes you happy? Why?
Waking up in the morning with new grace and new opportunities to make my life great makes me happy. Also being blessed the ability to express myself musically without having to say a word means a lot to me. Ultimately, I know my day is coming, I just have to be here to see it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I play the drums, organ, keyboard and a little bass guitar so I think the way I produce sets me aside from other producers with a slight help from my church upbringing. So when I make songs and use melodies, or I am rapping the cadences and melodies are unique because of the wide variety of music that was installed in me at an early age. I also engineer my own music so finding out how to mix my sound was a little challenging, but over the years it has became easy. I’ve learned to also try to understand the other musical minds around me and their pov. I want the world to know that by the end of my music career, it might be a new genre for music, created by me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I wound take them to the studio. Time to be creative!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a special shoutout to my family. My parents of course for always supporting me and also for keeping me in church at an early age. My next shootout goes to my oldest brother Kentric Morris for keeping me around music and not only best the biggest inspiration to the start of my music but making me learn everything on my own and allowing me to find my own identity. Last but not least, the neighborhood I grew up in (Sawyertown) deserves a shootout for teaching me how to survive and still thrive at the same time.
