We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Glover and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
For me, taking a risk in life is a way of exhibiting your faith in God. I came up with a term back in my college days called ‘Fleaps’. Fleaps stands for faith leaps. Fleaps enables you to open up opportunities where you can learn, grow, and become more of whom you are truly meant to be. Any risk can have good and not so feel good consequences, but I am a strong believer that there is a reason for everything. I am a introvert at heart, but I love to create and give to others. In pursuing my gifts and underlying desire to create, Raw Rose Studio was born. I wanted to put my talents to use and display the things I have within me. Taking the risk has been highly worth it, and this is only the beginning.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The motto for Raw Rose Studio- is Raw in beauty, just like a rose. I chose this motto because I wanted to show up to the world as uniquely through my art as I do as an individual. As stated before, I am an introvert. In my color schemes and my designs, I wanted to convey this by using more neutral tones. My inner glam girl is represented by a glimmer of gold in each piece, while my busy mind is represented through my designs and lines. Each piece of my art represents me in some manner. Getting my business where it is today was not easy, especially doing it alone financially and physically. Raw Rose Studio is a fantasy that I wanted and have worked for- from creating and painting my own logo, building and redesigning my dining area to my personal studio, to creating all of the pieces.
But hard work is something I know well, and has been exhibited throughout my family for years. The Rose portion of my brand stems from my grandmother. She was strong and hard working, beautiful but also stood her ground. A rose depicts her perfectly, and I wanted to incorporate her strength and beauty into this dream.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A few staple places for me have been Ponce City Market and The works. Both places have shopping and food (I love both!). These places are also great to take family and friends as they have many options and activities. D’Cuban Cafe in Chamblee and Papis Cuban and Carribean Grill in Midtown are also great food options I like to share with others as well. I also love hiking, so I usually incorporate nature walks or hikes when I have visitors. I recently took my mother to Botanical Gardens, and desire to take her to Fernbank Museum. I also love the Dahlonega and Elijay areas for hikes. My most recent hike with a friend was Amicalola Falls, it is beautiful and has great views.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
None of this would have been possible without my grandmother Mary Rutledge, My mother Barbara Hendricks, My sister Jasmyn Pollock and my brother-in-law Derrick Pollock. My uncle and aunty for their continued support and love as well. And lastly God instilling the gifts within me to share with those around me.
