We had the good fortune of connecting with Kateri Dyson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kateri, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The most important aspect of my business that has made me successful is being authentic, transparent, and honestly just treating people how I would want to be treated. Giving respect goes along way in business. I would also say, taking risk has lead me to be successful as well. I had to take a lot of financial risk while opening my business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Dream Beauty Recovery Concierges is a post operative company for cosmetic patients. What sets us aside from other post operative companies is that we are very transparent with our patients. We do not advertise or offer services out of our scope of practice. We also let patients know everything upfront, so there are no surprises. We pride ourselves on giving top notch care. We treat all patients as if they are our mothers, sisters, brothers, etc. I am excited to be starting my own short term assisted living facility for post operative patients. My biggest challenge is all the paperwork that goes along with starting in this field of work. A lot of license, certifications etc. The lessons I learned along the way are to be trustworthy, a women of your word, and to have integrity and morals when caring for someone else. I want people to know that I am here to make a difference in the surgery world! I want women to be PROPERLY cared for. A lot of women get cosmetic surgery because they are unhappy with how they look, it could be from having children, weight loss etc. While getting the perfect body during surgery, it’s the after care that matters just as much as being on the table. Such as getting massages, eating properly, exercising etc. When patients don’t get the right aftercare they tend to develop fibrosis, seromas, infections, weight gain, weight loss, etc. It is imperative to have a post operative that are licensed in the medical field and have CPR and BLS training.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would show them the downtown district of Miami, the ocean beaches, etc. We would go eating, dancing, water sports, outdoor sports, sight-seeing etc. Everything that I normally don’t do excites me. Trying new things and going on new adventures excite me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out to my mom who quit her job of 26 years to help me prosper and grow in my business. My mother does a lot of services.
