We had the good fortune of connecting with Tommie Pressley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tommie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To be honest, I didn’t have a thought process behind it. I just did it out of passion. The fact that I could make money from something that I enjoyed doing was just a bonus.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company is TLP Design Studios and I help entrepreneurs and companies to create more impact in the world and position themselves powerfully in the market place. What I am most proud of creating our yearly income in just 3 months through branding and marketing. I am where I am today because of the people that I chose to surround myself with, and hiring support for my business. It wasn’t easy and it still isn’t. But it is worth it. I was able to overcome the challenges that I faced in my business by taking a deep breath and coming into reality. I had to ask myself what did I have the ability to change. For the things that I could change, I did. It’s easy to get in your feelings instead of putting your CEO cap on and figuring things out. What I want the world to know is that I took a lot of risks to get to where I am and if you don’t take any risks, there will be little reward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, we would have to start off the day with brunch of course? Because without brunch, what is life lol? Link and Pin has a good menu, as as well as mimosas. After brunch it’s time to hit up somebody’s rooftop or day party. The exact location varies because there isn’t a dedicated space here in the city for the productions that happen. If day parties aren’t your thing, then there are so many museums to visit the like Mint Museum as well as parks to just relax and stay lowkey like Romare Bearden Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my Mom for always supporting me and my dreams. I would also like to recognize Shameca Tankerson, for challenging me to dream bigger then I ever thought imaginable.
