We had the good fortune of connecting with Darrell Wimbush Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darrell, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Atlanta (Grady baby), and was raised on the westside. I lived with my grandparents, with one of my younger sisters and four of my cousins. My upbringing has taught me humility, dedication, hard work, and sacrifice. At the age of eight, I started playing with my grandfather tools. And by ten I had assembled an entertainment stand for my grandmother that to this day she still has. During this time period I became best friends with my neighbor, who at the time parents were building an addition to their home. Unbeknownst to my best friend father he became mine, where he taught us how to be men, problem solving, and how to provide. By fifteen we had completed the addition of the home, which at this point, building anything was my safe place.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is proving a service to people that need any and all “Audio Video” work done. This includes wiring security cameras, controlled access and mounting tv’s. What sets me apart is my dedication to total customer satisfaction. My work is not done until my customer is willing to tell someone about the job that I have completed. During my growth I have experienced several set backs and failures, but I have used those thing to strength my desire to succeed. My brand is me, and the work that I do for each customer.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Battery Atlanta always has good energy! Atlanta has an enormous amount of entertainment venues. and fun things to do. A good friend has a food truck called “Flab House”, that has some of the best barbeque in the state. There are just too many places to name but, Apartment 4-B is as nice lounge along with hitting golf balls at Top Golf.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
`Ok so there are so many people and things in my life that contributed to where I am in life. Starting a business was never in my deck of cards, so I owe my three amazing daughters a shoutout for teaching me unconditional love and giving me new purpose in life. To my grandparents for teaching me about love and sacrifice. To my Pops for taking me underneath his wing and giving me a different perspective, and to Mr. Tony Westly, who deserves his flowers, he had no idea of the impact it had by allowing me to be apart of his family 24/7 from taking me to my eighth grade dance to defending my character, he was always there for any of the kids in our community.
