We had the good fortune of connecting with Scrilla Fulcanelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scrilla, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
To be honest, there was a long time where I would avoid taking risks as much as possible. It wasn’t until I started associating risk with growth that I finally learned to let go and find the faith within myself. We really just need to get out of our own way sometimes. Once I learned that, the risks weren’t as scary anymore, because no matter what happens, I’m able to see it as an opportunity for growth. That’s the realization that led me to quit my 9-5 and move across the country to Atlanta where I founded my music production company, The Saviours Music Group. It was easily the riskiest decision I’ve ever made, but that shift in perspective is what really allowed me to embrace it all.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Saviours Music Group is an Atlanta-based music publishing and production company. We only incorporated this summer, but we’ve been blessed with a lot of really great opportunities working with both indie and major label artists. All three of us were independent for some time, so the biggest challenge was probably just learning to become more interdependent and put the team above the individual.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d definitely have to hit up Ria’s Bluebird or R Thomas for breakfast, though I’m always down for Waffle House too. I’d probably take them to Little 5 Points, and check out Grant Park and hit Dakota Blue for lunch. The Aquarium here is lit too. A lot of my closest friends are big on the outdoors like me, so I’d probably take them a little outside the city to the trails at Sweetwater Creek.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s so many people that have had an impact on me, but to keep this short, I’d like to shoutout my girlfriend Rachel for always supporting me and helping me follow my crazy dreams. I also wanna shout out my partners TJ and J-Note for building this thing together with me. None of this would be possible without them!
