Hi Coyatahair, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I was inspired by Everything Eboni, JNicole, Okthatsher Mercedes, etc. Wig making is an amazing skill & there’s really no boundaries. I have always been ecstatic to change my look or a client look in a matter of minutes by adding a wig or extensions. In this career you have complete creative control. Firing my hairstylist was one of my greatest moments. I would rather pay less money & save more time to enhance my beauty by constructing a wig and wearing it during day and taking it off at night.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Name is Courtney Kenyata, A.K.A Coyata, I am a Glueless wig maker and I offer Color wigs, Headband wigs, Pre-Made wigs, machine-made wigs, BYOB, custom wigs, virgin hair extensions, mink lashes, scalp protectant oil, edge tamer, hair growth serum. I teach 1 on 1 wig making classes also in a group setting. I have a course & ebooks coming in October. My mission is to help grow natural hair by way of enhancing protective styles with less time & effort as possible. I use to go to the salon every two to three weeks & spend most of the day waiting in a chair to dish out a fortune of money. I was tired of doing that so I invested in a seven-hour wig class & a virtual online course. With little to no money…I started a wig business. This business is so satisfying. I love helping others look & feel their best for work, personal lifestyles, stay-at-home moms or dads, work-from-home partners, lazy gals, hair loss patients, catch a meeting player, switch it up gawds, etc. The fact that I focus on everyday women & not so much on celebrity styles is what sets me apart from others. An open-minded fierce person is my dream client. I do not have a lot of followers but I am grateful who peep at my work & enjoy it. I am still learning & investing in my craft. I welcome constructive criticism. I have a great appreciation for creating beauty & the work & value that is put into it. My goal is to be well respected & continue to grow as a creator.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First night of stay we’re going to take a trip to Chateau Elan Winery & Resort for a fun wine tasting haul then to the Spa for a massage. Next day, we’re going to Bear & Honey Candle Co. to manually make great candles. Once we’re done, we will drive over to Chattahoochee Food Work to eat Hippie Hibachi vegan food. End the night at Top golf. Last day, visit the Civil Rights Museum, Georgia Aquarium or Skyline Rooftop at Ponce City Market and end the day at Milk & Honey brunch spot.
