Meet Lalit Devraj | Beatboxer & Finance Guru

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lalit Devraj and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lalit, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind my success is the fact that I am Consistent. From the reference of 2 topics, both in similar realm from a learning perspective – Beatbox and Finance. Beatbox has its basics, from sounds to patterns, to the next level of creating whole beats only to graduate to full composition by one human mouth, Such as Finance has its basics, from saving and budgeting money, to the next level of being able to ‘make money’, whose genre/method to perform to earn money- is up to the individual. To rise above this is to relate how, in the real world, music has its forms such as acoustic and electronic, money is such with its evolution from gold, notes and cash to include credit, stock, cryptocurrency as the similar. From being able to see the bigger picture yet also understand the nitty gritty- and most of all – being consistent in this behavior gave me a picture/different viewpoint that would constantly change as I understood more, and more, about the world. Like this, if I want something, there is a very logical plan that I can craft but frankly the execution is where there’s an element of fear/uncertainty/doubt that undeniably needs to be traversed sometimes, but it is with having to do that so many times, and becoming stronger through it, the consistency principle has helped me become who I am and with all skills, I have been implementing this organically, and every small change compounds to infinity in the long term. Without acknowledging how significant consistency is and making it a habit and almost a skill now when i need to apply myself – this has helped me a multifold of times and allowed me to traverse the bridge of not only the combination of these two realms of Beatbox and Finance, but taking it one step further, to a scalable, digital outreach capability. Step by Step, as long as trajectory is towards progress and beyond, consistency shall provide.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been curious and more than that, have been able to see the bigger picture, understand it, as well as be analytical. From learning another language (Spanish) on my own to add one more bridge of communication to the greater world, I feel that all these skills of: Strategic, Analytical, Technical, Social are what play into the role of a Management Consultant. Not an easy path to get there nor to always be ‘on’, i.e., it definitely challenging at times, but we come out stronger when we do and learn more about ourselves to rise to next occasion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Have breakfast at Le Petit Marche and then go to Ponce City Market during noon to midday, browse around IKEA, then after go to Atlantic Station – which is right next door- for a movie night ending or walk/cruise around the shops!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Sabrina Liew! She is so, so amazing, wonderful, intelligent, intellectual and without her support from a strategic perspective yet emotionally as well, I wouldn’t be able to be here and hone the skills I am in order to take it back to the drawing table to rise to the next level together!
