We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelli Best and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelli, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is a growth mindset. When you realize the amount of change that is required for having a business it enables you to be successful.

When I started my business, I of course wanted to be successful but I learned the definition of success will always change with your experiences. Sometimes the most simplistic things will give you the satisfaction of “success”.

To know an idea was brought to the execution stage is successful for me. It can sometimes become hard to tackle fear but having hope for your future can always mitigate those feelings. Success is learning how to monetize my art and create another form of income because you can scale indefinitely. Success is essentially your effort.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The first four years out of undergrad have been the worst for me. I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to do, I was holding on to so much confusion.

Mid crisis, I made a promise to my self that I would take control and move in another direction. I worked hard in smaller opportunity’s ranging from an administrative assistant, billing specialist, recruiter and customer service representative to acquire a real world perspective of the work force , people , and educated my self to think more analytical.

I originally wanted to go into psychology because of the fascination of human behavior but settled for social work and later changed to business. Business always comes easy for the most part , but people are forever changing.

My most current role taught me that everyone is different and has a unique journey. That uniqueness is what makes business special, marketing campaigns interesting and building a community worthwhile.

As a result, I have been able to continue my dynamic career as a product specialist along side my entrepreneurial endeavors and have an amazing view into expense management and the ins and outs of business operations! Amazing right? I get to work with accountants, ceos, and everyday users and help solve problems which make me tired but happy.

Moving forward I would love to continue to serve in analytics with my business and in other partnerships, this is only the beginning and you can always recreate yourself no matter what.

It was extremely hard jumping around job to job in an unfamiliar state but I made it fun. I told myself I was in a “2 year rotational program” like you see in Fortune 500 companies and pushed myself to take away something from each day. By implementing this strategy I gained a new perspective once again. My advice is have a strategy to begin with and always know you can write your own story as long as it aligns with the greater good.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well first we would be dining in and watching movies because I love that.

Then I also love outdoors so maybe a trip to Dunwoody Trails and or the belt-line.

You can’t beat a drive downtown in the evening, so we would visit the aquarium and maybe grab a bite by the Farris wheel or at the CNN center.

Maybe even get some flicks at the trap museum.

Wake up and brunch , site see or visit family.

To end maybe a night out on the town at a small chill lounge , maybe Therapy Lounge because their lemon pepper wings.

And If it’s my best friend well stop by a local tattoo artist as well maybe in Midtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Blue and Gold Marching Machine of North Carolina A&T State University. Especially the Lovely Ladies of Golden Delight Auxiliary.
