We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaya Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve been working for almost 8 years now and have never felt 100% cared about or supported at any of my jobs. I’ve also found myself working with people that have little to no work ethic. That’s when I decided to begin to create my own job, my own Buisness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I bake delicious and beautiful desserts. Next to quality presentation is most important to me! I love getting creative with colors, decorations and designs. I’ve learned that there is no right way even it comes to creating. While I pipe my icing another baker may scoop theirs on, which doesn’t mean either way is wrong it just shows 2 different paths to the same goal! Being a self taught baker is not easy. You have to do you’re own research, experiments and trials and hold yourself to it. It takes a lot of discipline. Apart from the actual baking I also have to promote myself and brand myself. I want the world to know that kayaannskitchenco is my heart. It is how I am able to channel love to many others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots to be is downtown. There is always something to do. There are plenty good eating spots as well. Centennial park is a place I’ve been visiting since a child.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout my Dad and my GrandTommie. My grandma is the one that put me in the kitchen and put me to work. She taught me many basic kitchen skills and even let me and my siblings have cook offs at home. My dad also influenced my buisness. He keeps me on my toes about the buisness side and keeps my focus in line.
