We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiney Gillespie-Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiney, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I feel as though the most important factor behind my brand that has made me successful today, is the gift of being able to connect with people from all walks of life, and that I genuinely care for people in general. I believe that by me connecting, giving my clients/customers amazing customer service, being able to effectively communicate while being transparent truly has helped me in my elevation.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am serial entrepreneur and own a total of 4 businesses. All Things Destiney The Brand is my umbrella company that houses each of them.

1. Destiney Speaks (Motivational Speaking)
2. The Brand BuildHER (Graphic Design)
3.All Things Destiney Boutique
4. Broken Gracefully-Built Intentionally (coaching program)

I love each and every one of these businesses because they allow me to bring something different to the table. People love to place others in a box, and I feel as though for me I didn’t want that. I’m gifted in a lot of areas and I’ve always wanted to use my gifts and talents to help others. I feel like that’s what sets me apart. Yes money is important, but I don’t just do it for the money. I get gratification in knowing that I helped someone’s life become a little easier just my utilizing my gifts.

What I am most proud about when it comes to my business, is the freedom that it has given me. When I was tied down to a 9-5 I didn’t feel like I was a present enough mom, or spouse. And that’s what I wanted most. To be able to do the things I love while being able to spend time with the ones I love. Since taking a leap of faith and quitting my job back in June of 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve been able to do just that!

Has it been easy? Absolutely not! Has it been worth it? Most definitely. I don’t regret my decision of working for myself full time at all. I remember starting out and having anxiety attacks because I was just so overwhelmed with 0 systems in place and had a hustling mentality. It wasn’t until I began getting connected with the right people and actually doing the research that I was able to over come the hardships In the beginning.

What I want the world to know about myself and my brand, is that I’m product of never giving up. I was a mother at 16 years old, and if it wasn’t for me having a strong mindset, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I was defeated many of times throughout my life, but I kept pushing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First of all I absolutely LOVE ATL. It’s all the vibes for sure. Hmmm a week long itinerary.

Some of my favorite places that I would take my bestie would be Waffle House (there’s nothing like southern comfort food), Lennox mall, the MLK exhibit, The Cheesecake Factory, The Museum, Zoo ATLANTA, and as far as hanging out goes I always enjoy just exploring the different parts of ATL. You never know what you’re going to get into there lol.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to personally shout out my Non-profit organization “The EmpowHERment Daily Devotional, Corp”. Through leading this dynamic group of women and young girls, they have truly taught me the power of sisterhood and community outreach.
