We had the good fortune of connecting with HotBoy Spook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi HotBoy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think if there is no risk there’s no reward. Risk taking made me who I am. If you don’t take the risk you’ll always wonder “what if”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
2022 marks my 3rd year being a rapper and the thing I’m most proud about is that I’m still going. There’s been multiple times where I wanted to give up but I’m still here and that’s something I’m proud of. It’s definitely NOT easy. You have to be resilient. I’ve had to overcome countless challenges over these 3-3.5 years to get where I am today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week with me in the city would consist of shopping at some of favorite stores. I only shop at high end thrift stores like Full Circle, Versus, Request etc. Next would definitely be getting food and drinks at my favorite restaurants around the city, then end it off visiting a few chill spots like Atlantic station, the battery, or little 5 points to just vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I always have to thank God because without him none of this is possible.
