We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Renae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 20 years. Back in 2002 is when I started working in the nursing industry. The most rewarding thing I have found about being a nurse is the personal connection that I am able to make with patients. No matter how long it has been, a patient remembers their nurse. They may or may not remember the nurse’s name, but they remember if they were kind and compassionate. A good nurse always is. From there I then went back to school and received my Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. I opened up my first business as an in-home Childcare Provider named Little People’s Learning Place. The benefits of being a Childcare Provider include the joy and pride of seeing children learn and grow. Which is the most rewarding. I then moved away from my hometown which is Topeka, Kansas in 2020 and I moved to Atlanta, Georgia right before the Pandemic was first detected in Georgia. I always had a mind for entrepreneurship so at that time I opened up my online clothing boutique July 14, 2020. All I had was $3,000. I decided to put that into my website. 404 Couture Boutique. Eventually, word spread and I was able to start generating revenue to where I was still able to make it during the Pandemic. I stay pretty much busy everyday working on my business with new business ideas, making local meet ups and post office drop offs to deliver items. I still follow my passion in the fashion/beauty industry and my business has been successful. I have been consistent with my business ever since.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Not at all. Lol. I am a mother of 6 children. Being a single mom and dealing with obstacles along the way that come with being a single mother, having priorities that keep you from genuinely finding out who you are as a person. Working for many different employers ever since I was 16 years old and going to school Full-time. Employers that didn’t appreciate the many good things that you have done for the company. Being an entrepreneur has been a blessing and my family and I have been blessed ever since.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a Sagittarius so I’m a very adventurous person and I can adapt easily to change. I love nature, The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a 30-acres botanical garden located adjacent to Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. The garden’s mission is to develop and maintain plant collections for the purposes of display, education, conversation, research and enjoyment. Also, Skyview Atlanta is a 200-foot tall Ferris wheel in the Southern end of Centennial Olympic Park. It is located next to The Tabernacle and within walking distance from World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, National Civil and Human Rights Museum, College Football Hall of Fame, CNN Center, Phillips Arena, The Georgia Dome, and the Georgia World Congress Center. I would also go to Kennesaw Mountain, a mountain between Marietta and Kennesaw, Georgia with a summit elevation of 1,808 feet. It is the highest point in the core Metro Atlanta area. Where I go to eat? I love Seafood. So, I would go to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, which is the largest concept in one of the largest family-owned and operated restaurant companies in the United States. Atlanta is also known for some of the best Southern Food Restaurants like The Busy Bee some of the best soul food. The Beautiful Restaurant is known as the healthy soulful taste of the South, and serves a variety of home cooked meals unlike any other! Atlanta has a lot of great attractions for you to enjoy with friends and family.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First comes first, I want to thank God and Jesus, My children for helping me with creative ideas, designing in the Fashion Industry, for their love and support while I have been on this journey. I want to Shout Out my customers who have helped my business thrive and flourish to gain in wealth and prosper. I want to continue to be a tremendous blessing to others.
