We had the good fortune of connecting with Ericka Bernardo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ericka, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Throughout my career, I have learned about discipline and putting in hard work. Even though I have succeeded in my career with those, it was the passion I have for being creative help me go above and beyond. I tend to work long hours, but when it comes to documenting and editing videos – regardless of how tired I am, I would feel like something was missing if I didn’t take the time to ‘vlog’ and share my life with all my supporters. Youtube became a passion of mine because it had been the thing I’ve done since the beginning of my career without thinking about getting paid for it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With my social media work, I largely based on Youtube. Professionally, I work in the United States Army, Active Duty Staff Sergeant. I have been in for approximately 9 years. Which is why this sets me apart from others, because not a lot of influencers have my background. I’ve used all the opportunities I had in order to progress in a fast manner. At times, it wasn’t easy because of the long hours, being away from family, and the stress. I overcame this by setting time aside of when I was able to breathe a little and count down to those days. I started to love the journey than the ending. I learned that as long as you have a great foundation you can do whatever you set your mind to. With all the no’s I had, all I needed was one yes in order to succeed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since, I am active duty – I move a lot. Right now, I am stationed in Virginia. My hometown is California. I would take them to all these amazing food spots, especially in Glendale, CA. Honestly, I love spending time at home and creating memories with everyone being comfortable. My best-friends are like my sisters, and usually at home is where we all have fun because we works so much.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few people that I can’t help but shout out because, without them, I wouldn’t have succeeded. My Parents, regardless of what it is – with people thinking I wouldn’t do well on Youtube, encouraged it every time I posted a video and watched every single video. Always motivating me to keep recording. My sisters for always putting my name out there, especially when I come home and leave and doing projects. My friends, Nika, Kimmy, and alot more that act a fool to help me record. Last, but not least, my fiance Liz. She is the only one that sees that background scene when things get tough. She motivates me and reminds me why I do what I do when I forget. Even times when I’m in the middle of recording and I don’t want to do it, she picks up the camera and motivates me. She’s my motivater through it all.
