We had the good fortune of connecting with Bilkis Shinaba and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bilkis, do you have a budget? how do you think about personal finances?
I do have a budget and I believe it is important to have a budget. As far as my personal finances I like to make sure I distribute my funds properly and make room for any downfalls. I look at it this way which is something I have always kept in mind as a young entrepreneur. I believe it’s important to have at least 6 months to a year monthly funds to cover any finances because in life there’s always ups and downs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a bit of everything lol, I do a lot of things from arts painting, designing,
sewing, and so much more. I enjoy what I do. I am also an Afrobeat artist. I strive to continue to push myself and to leave a legacy. It’s not easy being a woman in the music industry I enjoy being a recording artist now that I have started a family it gets a bit challenging to get things done. With time things will work itself out. I’ve learned that persistence, humble and to continue to strive are important. I wish I did more networking but having starting family young I had to prioritize myself and family needs. But most importantly I am thankful that God gave me many talent opportunities to still continue to achieve my dreams.

My brand is Kiss Lane for cosmetics and accessories and Bili b stage name for my music. I continue to push them forward to fulfill my dreams as an entrepreneur and artist.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Visiting ATL I love the sundial restaurant I love Ponce city market the best for group of friends it has rooftop music outdoor fun and lots of eateries.

Top golf is also a nice place to play indoor roof golf and still dine.

I love the juke join with live music and dine.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I do like to share my inspiration from books like “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy I think every one should read it.
