We had the good fortune of connecting with Versha’ Patrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Versha’, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is perseverance. When Covid arrived I had to figure out a way to stay in business once the stay in order was lifted. My clients soon trusted me with their small outside gatherings as I provided individual decorative meals at their events where cross contamination wouldn’t be an issue. We ensured a safe and clean environment. I couldn’t give up and by not doing so my company was thriving in the mist of a pandemic. The love of catering pushed me to continue above and beyond.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It was the encouragement of my friends and family to pursue a catering business. I started out heading up office parties and large family gatherings where the guest would often ask me where is my restaurant or business cards. That is what encouraged me to develop KP’s Comfort Foods. It wasn’t easy as I initially started the company with my eldest sister. In our first year of business she entered into another amazing career that took her into another direction. I was faced with giving up on trying to continue on. With prayer and much help from family and friends I was able to continue as a the sole owner.  KP’s Comfort Foods just celebrated 7 year of business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my best friends came into town normally they would want a home cooked meal, so the first night I would make them their favorite meal and catch up on good conversation. Next, I would take them to some of my favorite spots because they know I’m a foodie, like Gumbeaux’s in Douglasville Ga. and then dessert at The Yard, downtown Atlanta Ga. Then I would take them to Dave and Busters as they also know I’m very competitive lol!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to my mother ( Beola Grant). She introduced to me to so many styles of cuisines. She always said to me to just try it!. Never be afraid to try new and different styles of food. And if I didn’t like a particular food she would say to find a way to make it tasty. My imagination is still the same to this day. I love the challenge when a person says that they don’t like a particular food item, so let’s just say I have several people eating food that they had written off LoL! I also want to give a shout out to my catering team April O’Kelley, Valencia Allen, Maurice Mobley, Tomeka Daniel, Corinthia Lee, Krystian Muhammad LaToya McKinney and Nikki James. They are the absolute best! Creative, driven, loyal and such positive spirits. I couldn’t have done it without them.
