We had the good fortune of connecting with Millicent Branham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Millicent, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own business because I wanted to make a difference and impact lives. Growing up losing both my parents, becoming homeless for a period of time, then eventually, becoming a single parent I realized that there are so many people like youth, children, single parents, and the homeless who were struggling, not by choice like I was. By creating my nonprofit, I wanted to help them and give them hope. Letting them know that there is someone out there who cares about them as well as understands their struggles and misfortune. I wanted to create a nonprofit that all those who were struggling could rely on.

What should our readers know about your business?
Stella Love Non-Profit focuses on improving the well-being of children/youth in need and women in distress. Our goal is to be able to help those children who are waiting to be placed into the foster care system, in the United States, who have often been mistreated and left to feel as if they do not belong. We desire to give those children, the children who have been outcasted by the people who they looked to for guidance, a place called home. The difference between our community and the foster care community is that we strongly desire to collaborate with local and state governments to provide these children with an environment of love, education, and counseling. Stella Love wants to show the children there is more to life than what they already know; they are needed, wanted, and most importantly loved. We also once a month minister to the homeless by providing hot meals, hygiene kits, clothing and more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Buckhead; the area is very beautiful. Then I would take them to Avalon in Alpharetta. It is breath-taking, especially at night when all the lights are illuminating. For dining, True Foods Kitchen and South City Kitchen have amazing foods along with plentiful options for all types of people with different tastes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my friend Mandy M. Wolter (Fundraising Manager). She has been my greatest help; she goes above and beyond to help me every night that I need it. We work together through this process of organizing a nonprofit. I would also like to shout out to Nicolle Jones who is a part of my Board of Directors. She provides tons of beneficial information and helps the nonprofit become well established within our community. I would like to shout out Diane Smith and Kaliahia Davis for their humongous help in the nonprofit through volunteers or giving my advice when I need it. I am truly grateful for all that they have done. And most importantly, to God. Without him, none of this would have been possible.
