We had the good fortune of connecting with Spudcutz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Spudcutz, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The bigger the risk, the bigger the rewards.  As far as what role taking risks plays, I would have to say going state to state, traveling, and making a name to brand Spudcutz, became the bigger approach in taking risk that lead to major rewards.  I took on many risk in building my career.  These came about as I paved my way through Cali, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, and now paving here in Atlanta.  I leaped with faith keeping God first hoping that my Lord would grant me the serenity on my journey.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s in me not on me.  I can say I’m blessed with a God given gift that I unwrap strategically on each client.  I love my career.  I love to see people smile and feel good.  I’m pleased to create an experience of a lifetime called Spudcutz.  The sound of the clippers gets my day going – that comb, them shears – it’s something about precision, oh boy!  My Presidential Spudcutz comes with a facial performed under steam.  It’s a 3-stepped deep pore cleansing system, with Lillie’s organic facial products specializing in sensitive skin.  Included is a face and head massage, followed by two hot towel treatments, one cool towel treatment, a choice of a black charcoal mask or Aloevera plant mask, plus Teatree oil for replenishment to top it off.  I also do men hair units and men hair replacements.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

To kick the night off, we would visit Atlantic Station to experience what the city has to offer.  (In this experience) there are a few places I would take my friends.  One great place to visit is my guy Chad’s business. He’s one of the owners of The Broiler in Buckhead and his restaurant has been named one of the best seafood places in the city.  If you asked me, shout out Snoop and 2 Chains for the wings at Esco Bar.  They’re extremely satisfying with great drinks as well!  Being that we’re on Edgewood, we can’t forget the night life.  It will make you feel young again, just like shopping at Lenox and Perimeter Mall.  The Trap Museum is a must see.  It’s a great place to grasp the hip hop culture, which Atlanta is made of.  I’m quite sure my friends would like Crown Sports Bar for sporting, because I do when I feel like shooting pool, and when I feel like Tiger Woods, I head to Top Golf for other sporting.  Not to forget Opium Night Club or the Gold Room, tap in, they stay lit!  Both sites have dancing, food, great music, and the drinks are amazing.  Seeing that I am a single father with an energetic seven year old, we could walk through the Botanical Gardens to let the kids burn off some (energy).  It’s among the many great places for the family.  Let’s not forget one of my favorite places that reminds me of home 1000s of miles away, the Peach Cobbler cafe.  Also, Skip’s Chicago Dogs and Red Snapper’s are the only places where I can get Italian beef.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I want to thank God, first and foremost, because without him, nothing is possible, but through him anything is possible.  I would like to thank Jim Ron, Eric Thompson, Steve Harvey, and Les Brown.  They taught me that seeds grow in the dark.  This meant that I would have to go through something to get through something.  And can’t no one walk this road with me or for me, it’s for me only.  And only I can go.  Success is a lonely road with many twist and turns.  But failure is not an option, and quitting is not even a thought.  It’s harder to quit than it is to keep going.  I can go a long way.  I feel closer to the finish line.  But the other side, boy that other side, there is light.  Only way to see it is to keep going and overcome it.  You must envision it, then move as if you’re already there.  You have to be there mentally before you are actually there.  In the words of Snoop Dog, I want to thank me for believing me, not giving up on me, and plan B is to make plan A work.
