We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Grigsby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I knew what i didn’t want my business to be, from the failed attempts to find a salon home. Salons ran by bad managers, and seeing amazing ,burnt out stylist, quit the industry. I saw how easy it was to run someone in the ground, because you love what you do. Truth is when your in your passion its a fight or flight thing, i refused to give up on what i’m great at. Passion is something that lived through, it cant be contained. I wanted to create a brand people are proud to be part of. Everyones welcome to be in Hazel Elaine family.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
5 years ago I moved to Atlanta to really engulf my self in the world of hair, from Dayton, Ohio. I went to a trade school in high school to earn a cosmetology license at the age of 18. I would say i’m most proud of the the resilience I showed throughout this process of finding my niche in hair. 10 years ago i began my journey with color and Event up-dos and ended in mens grooming today. When moving to a new place ,there is the constant remembrance of the fact that the support system, that was once there ,is now gone.
After arriving in Atlanta in 2018 being 21, I was charged straight into the work force next to professionals That had been working for decades. Through a-lot of trial and error of working at multiple specialty salons, a support team of people, and clients who support my lifestyle choices was formed.
As black woman being involved in mens grooming i’m no stranger to having strong skin. i would want the world know that Hazel Elaine grooming is a constantly evolving brand. it will always grow and evolve with the community and clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
All things in Atlanta begin with brunch! My family has the BEST brunch spot in the city Breakfast at barneys, after bellini or two and those delish gold crusted pancakes im heading to the beltline to wave and say hi to the real people of Atl. i ponce city market its truly my stopping ground.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
110% My clients! When it comes to an amazing support system, a positive voice to speak when I’m not in the room the credit goes to my clients. Being a business owner can be lonely road to take, without thanks, my clients have been the push to. make my business everything that it is today.
