We had the chance to sit with Britnie of BHumble Cosmetics and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britnie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, the thought process came as a spiritual inspiration. I had begun to do a lot of research on different cosmetic products that are of consistent use today. I found that many products IE: Deodorant, perfume, nail polish, lipstick, hair products all contain additives that can be detrimental to the body’s natural health. Oftentimes, we see the tangibility of a thing and are drawn into making a purchase of a product without understanding the harm it could actually do to one’s vessel in the long run. After gaining knowledge on what organic items had and could be used to create the same affect if not better than commercially branded cosmetic products I began BHumble Cosmetics “From the Root, For The Bloom”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I embrace every essential of being a completely natural melanated woman from the hair follicle to the toenail. I am my brand on foot in it’s rawest essence. I decided to call it BHumble Co first as a reminder to myself to continue to push toward my goal despite any challenges. Also as a message to my customers (Esp. melanated women) that you can be humble and beautiful naturally without the “beauty is pain” mindset, while utilizing harmful products. The journey of BHumble Co is much more fun than it is challenging I always enjoy learning new ways to improve my products daily to provide the most efficient use of them all. From the Deodorant, the Hair gel, the lipgloss the nail polish, etc. And I truly enjoy this gift The Most High has given me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a visionary and enjoy scenic areas, taking long rides, having substantial and knowledgeable conversations with good people. I’m definitely a liberated spirit so anything dealing with nature and more good spirits will always be considered a good time regardless of location.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
