Meet Alfredo Matos | Money Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfredo Matos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alfredo, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, blessed with a loving family. Growing up in a low income family, I learned how to do a lot with little resources. After my parents’ divorce, my mother enjoyed working in sales and it was that environment in which I learned that having your own business was difficult and rewarding. The idea of being your own boss, tracing your own journey and working the hours you want to work were appealing to me from an early age. I saw how powerful it was to have women empowered as entrepreneurs, and also saw that higher incomes didn’t always equate to long term wealth generation.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We navigate women into their own version of financial peace. Sometimes they need guidance in making big financial decisions with confidence, sometimes they want help getting rid of debt, or learning techniques on how to budget better. Sometimes they want clarity on how to achieve their goals or need information on how to start investing. Regardless of their need, we walk with them them through a journey that guarantees progress in their financial wellbeing overall. By providing one-on-one coaching in English, Spanish or even “Spanglish”, we help ladies, -mostly latinas- in Georgia get their financial life under control, and out goal is that they exit the cycle of financial struggle.
We have dedicated ourselves to providing financial literacy and financial coaching for struggling couples in our community, and it has been very fulfilling. However, inspired in the story of our own mothers and their struggle as divorced Moms, my wife and I decided to focus more on serving ladies who are managing a household by themselves. Not unlike women from all demographics, latinas in Georgia and across the nation work way too hard to end up in poverty when they reach retirement. It’s not fair, and it’s not necessary. With better financial literacy and support, they can make their dollars do a lot more for them and for their future.
We’ve learned along the way that not everyone recognizes how much money they leave on the table only due to lack of knowledge or their unwillingness to ask for help. Women are particularly vulnerable due to the social norms that make them feel uncomfortable when it comes to talk about money.
At Cash Viewpoint Coaching, our mission is to ensure ladies continue having progress in their financial lives, which in turn causes improvements in their life overall. We are here for them,

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love hiking, kayaking and camping and Georgia has an awesome collection of parks, some of which are really close to downtown Atlanta. Anytime we get a chance, we take friends to the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area for a hike by the river, or to Red Top Mountain State park for a relaxing day by the lake. Rev Coffee roasters in Smyrna is our favorite spot when we want to meet clients in person over a good cup of coffee. Walking around Marietta square, and eating Ice Cream or a pizza slice from MPC while sitting on a bench in front of the water fountain reminds us of our beautiful Puerto Rico. When it’s cold outside, we love eating some Mofongo (a delicious Puerto Rican dish) at Jimmy’z Kitchen in Marietta, or a very warm Cuban-style Chicken Soup at La Cubana not far from Marietta square.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to Iglesia Senda, Inc. is a Spanish-speaking church in Kennesaw, Georgia and its Senior Pastor Ezequiel Vélez who was the first to give us an opportunity to do live speaking engagements and workshops, which in turn served their church members by providing much-needed education on personal finances based on biblical principles.
