We had the good fortune of connecting with Asia Foreman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Asia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It honestly was something that just happened. I started out studying esthetics just to learn more in depth about skin & skincare because I was pregnant and trying to find a solution for myself. As I got deeper into my studies and started waxing, I fell in love and it was no turning back from that.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Mom, Licensed Esthetician, Certified Doula, Certified Herbalist, Day Maker, Healer -Cancer (sun) Gemini (moon) Leo (rising).

I am a body wax specialist and skincare enthusiast. One thing I have learned through my experience as an aesthetician is that beautiful skin is rarely achieved without individualized attention to a client’s specific needs – which is why I dedicated and still dedicate hours researching daily into finding the most effective skin care products, treatments, and devices. My primary focus is on the holistic side of things which involves treating the skin in a “whole” way. It looks at the bigger picture to go beyond your external symptoms; understanding the root cause of skin imbalances, which means it’s a whole lot more than just cleansers and moisturizers. Your skin is your largest organ, communicating with both internal and external forces daily, and it needs to maintain the correct balance to function optimally. Holistic skin-care is the act of carefully formulating products and engaging in lifestyle practices.

My goal has always been to help people. I’m a healer in every meaning of that word. It’s the whole reason I started my non profit, to help build my community up through raising mental health awareness; and also the reason I really got into esthetics, to bring affordable services to EVERYONE. Feeling and looking beautiful shouldn’t just be made available to certain people. Everyone deserves a little bit of luxury.

I am apart of the Her House of Beauty team in Waldorf, MD. As a collective we offer nail services, pedicure services, lash extensions, needless fillers, microblading, teeth whitening, body contouring, body waxing, facials, post operative care, and so much more coming soon.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Washington, DC and I love to eat. My idea of a good time is eating good, I’m just going to name my “go to” places in the city that I frequent

Steak in a Sack in Ft. Washington, MD, its like an example of what Waffle House could be like (no shade)
Ocean Prime – WDC
The Hamilton – WDC
Clydes – WDC
Blue Sunday – Bowie, MD
Tubbys Kitchen – Private Traveling Chef (she brings the food and the drinks to you)
The Bayou Girl Drink Factory – LaPlata, MD
Agua 301 – WDC

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I just want to thank me for always believing in me…..jk

I definitely couldn’t have done this without the birth of my daughter and the continued support of my Grandmother and Aunt. Without them there is no Asia The Aesthetician.
