We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Valentino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I started Chat City Podcast in the Summer of 2018. I’ve always had this yearning sensation to pursue something creative. During that Summer I found myself in a lot of quiet moments which allowed the wheels to turn. I was listening to podcasts on my drives homes and thought “I can do this!” At the time I was working in Downtown St. Petersburg FL and found myself meeting a lot of local business owners and artists in the community. I thought to myself “how exciting would be it be to share the stories of these local business owners, artists and non-profits?” I love the come up stories. I love hearing what inspires people to do what they do whether it’s their business, their art or their love for wanting to help people and their communities. I called it Chat City because I knew I wanted to hear more stories in other cities that I frequently visited.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
These days it seems everyone has a podcast. The thing I wanted to make sure would set me apart was being authentic and true to myself and the people I interview. I love the underdog story and people who are either starting out or just decided to pursue their passions because the 9-5 life was not cutting it for them. Having just moved to the Peach State, I am most proud of myself and family for finally making the move to becoming Georgia residents. I am excited to record more inspiring stories in another favorite city of mine. It has not always been easy especially when you are a mom of two, wife and work a full time job. It’s a crazy balancing act of caring for others, yourself and also fueling your passion and purpose. I’ve learned that you can’t compare yourself to others. Just be you and the right people will listen. Someone will hear these stories and be inspired to start their own business, make an impact in their community or pick up that paint brush or video camera. I want the world to know that inspiration is everywhere and within everyone, you just have to make time to find it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just moved to the area so I am learning new places everyday. But one of the first places I visited when we first came to Atlanta was Cabbagetown. I would take my best friend to this area for a nice stroll and take some selfies with all the beautiful murals along the way. For lunch we would have to hit up Fox Bros BBQ for their Beef Brisket sandwich and fired pickles/jalapeno chips.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My brother in law Winford has been my biggest supporter with starting my podcast. He listens to every episode and provides feedback and encouragement to keep going.
