We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrell “Trill” Garth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrell “Trill”, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Integrity. That is the single most important factor when it comes to my success. When you have Integrity it spawns into so many more positive attributes. Like for example, in most occupations the snakes and scammers are everywhere. There are so many people in this business that have no real background, track record of success, real industry contacts or morals. So it’s important I provide a high level of service and it all boils down to doing what you say you can do. I have built life long relationships beyond business because of these practices. And when you can have 20+ years of longevity in entertainment, you must be doing something correct. Success is the most important thing when it comes to our clients and artists we serve. That’s why I stay consistent, connected and innovative in all endeavors and campaigns.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What’s sets me apart from the rest is the ability to pin point problems and correct them or improve them. This comes from being very analytical and being able to implement practices to be successful. You have to always have your ear to street but also be able to use those trends to make a system that works. My biggest accomplishment to date is still the annual Indie Megafest in Atlanta. It a way for me to bring my friends and associates from labels, radio, publishing companies, bloggers and artists together for a ultimate soundstage/networking event. The artists are just important as the others and they need each other. Multiple relationships have evolved from this event, including label and distribution deals, touring, licensing , Radio and TV endorsements. It’s something I’m proud of and blessed to be able to give back annually to the indie music community. Quality events and relationship building opportunities are key. Indie Megafest is held July 4th weekend in Atlanta Ga.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots are places like Rock Steady in Midtown. Cool ambiance with a Haitian/Caribbean menu, awesome music and great vibes. Also late night classics like the Blue Flame Lounge and The Red Martini.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d would like to thank Wendy Day for aspiring me to learn the business and ins and outs of the business. Before I knew what Soundscan was she was faxing or Weekly chart reports. Yes I said fax machine. Also Radio/Television Veteran Eddie Kayne for the inclusion of many of his projects over the years. And also the constant advice, motivation and guidance.
