We had the good fortune of connecting with Goldi gold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Goldi, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I know early in the game i got caught up with that motto. ‘I’ll Sleep when I’m DEAD”. Sheesh! that’s not healthy. It’s not about staying up all night to prove to people you doing something. it’s about time Management so you can do that one project and a couple of future projects and still get some Rest at the same time. I can stay up if I have too. But now a days. i really map everything out to avoid that. I need my little 4 hours of sleep. hahaha.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is about being bold, colorful and informative all at onces. what sets me apart is my approach since I do a bulk of my art digitally but it looks simple at the same time complex with a burst of energy. I’m always excite by the process. Sometimes I have regrets of what i start working on because it seems like i went over my head but the satisfaction is always the done effort which is extra rewarding . Or when i do a commission piece and the client is really a fan and want me to create a loved one that have passed away and they only have one picture of them. sheesh! The pressure. but their reaction to the finish piece is a relief and always priceless. i got to where I am today by hard work, consistency and word of mouth. Non of it is easy. And the only reason why i say that is. If you want to be better. you got to level up. if you want more money. You got to level up. if you want control of what you do. You got to level up. And to level up is getting out of your comfort zone and do yourself a solid to be great. More so for you then anything else. I’m getting there. Some people see it. some people just think i’m just all over the place. hahaha. it’s all a challenge from beginning to end. but not all challenges are bad. i just had to learn to be prepared in a way that works for me. And you can’t do that by making the situation harder then what it seems. i want the world to know through my brand and art that the culture is rich and can be seen on so many different levels if you open your eyes and heart to it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With covid. everything is so different. but i would set up to visit black owned galleries like peter street station, Zucot gallery, Adama Museum. or other galleries that have dope artwork or showing of exhibits of people i actually know. But Mint gallery is on the list and of course The High Museum. then hitting west end or midtown for food is a must. But since i know people that chef and cater. The other alternative might be to reach out to them to do some fly and personal culinary event. Just to support the movement. but honestly I would have to see what’s going on during the week of the visit. Atlanta can have 4 events going on in one weekend. and just as much during the week. but it would be entertaining.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Peter Street Station art & design Community center, Art beats & lyrics, ARTiculateATL, The Kenekt, ADAMATL, Atlanta Influence Everything, Power haus creative, tila Studios, The Village Market, Hammond house. these are just a few organization that represent the well being of artist and the people in general. Atlanta don’t have to outsource for anything you have everything you need right here in ATLANTA. so Big shouts to all of them.
