We had the good fortune of connecting with Isahn & Antinique Wilder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isahn & Antinique, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risk is always a challenge, especially being an entrepreneur. Depending on what kind of business you have, business can be up and down, you never know when the next dollar will come in, and hoping if the client/customer will like your product or service. Taking the risk of leaving our jobs, helped us become better business owners. We now see our vision for the businesses loud and clear without the distractions from working a job. Stepping out on faith and trusting God with our vision, was the best move for us and our family.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It all started when we both was working a 9-5 job. Isahn worked at a warehouse and I worked for a bank. Things were going great until the job were becoming overwhelming with many changes. Both companies were facing issues with layoffs, being short-staffed, closing offices, and requiring mandatory overtime. So of course we did what we had to do because we had bills and two kids that we are raising. Isahn had a conversation with me about his interests in photography. I said, “Go for it babe:” He bought his first camera and invested in some photography classes. This was beginning of Out Of sight Images. Out Of Sight Images grew very quickly when he became the photographer for the night club scene. As business grew, Isahn wanted more. In the process of growing the business, things took a toll when the pandemic hit. After businesses had to shutdown and temporarily close, it caused a lot events to be cancelled or reschedule. Of course the business suffered just a little. During the pandemic, things got worse on the jobs. My job required me to work from home and things was very hectic in the warehouse for Isahn. Because of the spread of Covid-19 and so many people going in and out of the warehouse, Isahn did not want to risk his health and put our family health at risk. He decided to leave his job. Isahn decided to have another conversation with me of his interests in starting a food truck business and his focus of becoming an entrepreneur full time. I was definitely on board and told him to go for it again. So we reached out to our friend Chandra James, to help us get started. She told us what we needed to do, then boom! This was the beginning of Wilder’s Snack-N-Go. We are concession stand food truck where we have shaved ice, funnel cakes, hotdogs, nachos, and many other snacks. Our specialty is our signature funnel cakes. It’s topped with a scoop of ice cream, whipped cream, and flavored syrup. As the pandemic slow down, things started to open back up. Food trucks became very popular in our area, so business grew drastically. Helping my husband out with his businesses gave me the motivation, to start my own business. At first I was content with working my job, because of the financial stability. Then I was thinking to myself, what is something that I can do and be good at it. I had conversation with our friend Chandra again and got her advice on being a tax professional. She gave me the pros and cons, and she advised that this will be something she knew I will be good at. I signed up for an online tax course. The course helped me get started as a tax professional. This was the beginning of Wilder Tax-N-Go. I was still working my job and running a business. Things were becoming overwhelming with my job and I was very unhappy. So now, here I am having a conversation with Isahn and letting him know that I was ready to leave my job and focus on our businesses. Of course he said go for it, and I let my job go. Over the years of working hard, being overlooked for new positions, being over worked, made us realize that working for someone else was not for us anymore. With the support from each other for our businesses, we handle business as a husband and wife team. Teamwork makes the dream works!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our favorite spot to eat at is Ruby Sunshine, Olive Garden, and many other restaurants. The place to be is where Out Of Sight Images takes pictures at on the social savings club scene. Along with taking pictures, Isahn also has been having parties for the social savings club scene in Birmingham for over 15 years. Let’s just say, wherever we are, is where the party is!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We will like to dedicate our shoutout to our family, friends, and clients. Their everlasting support gives us the strength to go hard for our businesses each and everyday. We also want to give special shoutout to our friend Chandra Southall James, owner of The Artic Shack and Guardian Tax Associates. She gave us her knowledge of starting a food truck business and tax service and it was very beneficial to us. We are so grateful for our support system.
