We had the good fortune of connecting with Aubrey Ways and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aubrey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be able to take control of what I seen for my future, and with that I wanted to apply what I learned and experienced to my progressive ideas in order to create a legacy for not only me and my family but for the always evolving art community. It is always the “ah Hah” moment that gives me joy; and knowing that some creative idea that was about to start being molded into a hopefully innovative project, came from me!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a photographer, I like to make people understand that my creative process is very unique. Visualization and referencing is a heavy part of my process. During shoots I tell my clients all the time I like to paint with my camera. The Most important aspect to any photo project is the frame, how this ALL Come together. Are majority of you “clicks” a patiently constructed piece of art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The main thing to do in Greensboro, NC is being in the downtown and bar scene areas. Lots of food, community events, shops and small business places.
Now if someone was trying to do a little more and be a little active I would show them some parking deck areas with a great scenery or drive them out to the mountains for a hike at Hanging Rock Quarry

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well If we are Jumping straight into it, without my Professor, Ms. Darlene McClinton, my Academic Advisor, Roymeico Carter or My Closest group of friends & brother, I would not have had the courage to even consider art as a career. It’s something about that first project that you do when your “Hardcore” art professor fervently compliments you that you know arts what your’e meant to do. At the beginning of my artist career there wasn’t a lot of support. Everyone kept asking me how I would make money. Well, come to my next show and you’ll see!
