We had the good fortune of connecting with AG Dessez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AG, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was very passionate about photography when I started in High School. My Photography teacher at the time Mr. Doyle Wallce really pushed me and told me that I could really make a career out of this if I wanted to. I really pushed myself creatively to figure out if I really wanted to do this. I did small gigs here or there but it wasn’t until I graduated that I decided this was going to actually make the jump. I did some more gigs and interned at a few places. I also started doing some content creation which I really enjoy. I love working with small businesses and local influencers. I want to use my talent for my community. Now I am officially a freelance photographer and social media content creator. I just recently left my part-time restaurant job and I’m a full-time freelancer now. It’s been an incredible experience! Everyone has been so supportive of me!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I took photography in High School as an elective and thought nothing of it. Four years later, I was the senior editor of my high school Yearbook Club. I took photos at the Super Bowl and was ready for my next creative journey. I decided to take a gap year in between high school and college to figure out what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to do something with photography but I wasn’t exactly sure what it was yet. I found it difficult to enjoy my art. I slowly started learning my craft, watching YouTube videos, looking at schools, and workshops to attend. Early March 2020, I took a trip to England and I fell back in love with my craft. I took photos of everything, everywhere I went. I really started to take my passion seriously after my trip. During COVID, my boyfriend and I started a series on Instagram of photos and poems. It really helped us both fuel our creativity during the lockdown. I started seeking out more job opportunities and places to showcase my work. I continued to grow and learn more about photography. I started working with others, creating content, getting into marketing. I found my passion doing what I love most. My philosophy when it comes to working with clients is: making something we can both be proud of. I value having good relationships with clients and having fun when working together. I love what I do and I love to share it with the community around me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The city is always a fun place to start. However, venturing out further is even more fun. If you’re looking for a great coffee place, my go-to is Queen Bee Coffee in McDonough, GA. They have the best staff and incredible coffee! My next stop for lunch would be at Mystic Grill. The food is amazing and Covington is such a cute town. Conyers is close by and another great stop. They have a great Irish bar that serves really good fish and chips. They have an adorable coffee shop that is filled with books.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to all of those who know me personally and kept me inspired to do what I love. Also Doyle Wallce you know you taught me everything I know and saw something in me I didn’t see in myself at the time.
