We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabrina Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabrina, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be my faith and my strength. I believe they are one in the same for me. I was born with the odds stacked against me. I used every brick thrown at me to keep stepping up. God had kept me through so much. He has given me strength to endure every obstacle. My Faith in Him keeps me going. I want people to know that even when I wanted to give up I kept going. I want people to believe in Him through me. Know that even when you can’t trace Him in your situation, just Trust Him.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the CEO and Founder of Precious Love and Co Founder of Precious Love the Brand. Precious Love is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness to Alzheimers disease and supporting their caregivers. Precious Love the Brand is a clothing line dedicated to bringing awareness to Alzheimers disease through fashion. I am most excited about educating as many people as I can about the disease and then one day being apart of finding a cure. I am where I am today business wise solely on my motivation to find a cure for a disease that took my Nana and so many others from this world. I feel like I owe it to her. It has not been easy at all. We are a non-profit organization so alot of things we do comes directly from our own pockets as well as donations. I also feel like alot of people do not take the disease serious because it’s considered an “old person” thing. They don’t even realize it’s an actual disease. I don’t feel like I’ve always had support outside of a few family members and friends but that’s changing. Like I’ve said before, I keep pushing no matter what. Alzheimers is the 6th leading cause of death in the US. It deserves a cure and to be taken more seriously. I’ve learned along the way to keep talking. Keep spreading awareness. Keep your goal in mind. The support will come. I want the world to know that Precious Love is here to stay. Alzheimers will not win! Our motto is “People forget a lot of things but they never forget love!”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely visit the National Harbor. There is plenty of fun places to visit and eat there. I love sushi so we would hit up Nara-ya or Nobu in DC. DC is known for their museums so we’d for sure have to hit one of those. U Street to hit a lounge. Miss Shirley’s for brunch and maybe J.Gilberts in Tysons for dinner. Maybe Swingers one night. Thats a cute little putt putt golf spot in downtown DC. But for me personally! I’m gonna need a nap lol! That’s my favorite thing to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to credit to my late grandmother Avonne Thorne for her love and encouragement she gave me growing up. Her prayers and her example on how to live is what got me to where I am today. I am everything I am because of her.
