We had the good fortune of connecting with La’Kai & Tassie Whatley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi La’Kai & Tassie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Jesus Christ is the most important and only factor behind Grace2Glory Apparel, without Him there is no success, there is no brand, there isn’t anything. Would we love for the brand to take off and be extremely successful, of course what business owner wouldn’t, but if people are just supporting the business monetarily and not for what it stands for then we’re straying from the why behind starting the business in the first place. So yeah God himself is behind our success of our brand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What we are most proud of or excited about is just being able to allow God to be shown through our business and in our lives. Within our business and personal life, we want God to always be at the center. Whether that means being a success manager or enjoying the blessing of being able to be at home with our children. With any business, time and sacrifice is made which doesn’t make it easy being away from family; however, we have known that in all things, God works everything out and that everything we go through is only temporary. We overcome by understanding this concept and continuing to keep God first. We let God make our schedule for us, and heed to His promptings. If we need time as family, we take it. We don’t allow the business to ever run us, but to know that as God leads, He is in control of its success not ourselves. Having this mindset helps us to easily step away and enjoy the time that matters most, being with friends and family, and the stories we hear by others being impacted by our testimony God has blessed us with.

What we want everyone to know about our brand and story is that there is grace for all who are willing to receive it. A grace that was paid in full, not by anything we could ever do— but only by the loving grace and mercifulness of God.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love Atlanta and there are so many places to go and see! Don’t know if a week would be enough time but lets start with food since we love to eat. We would take them to our favorite brunch spots having to choose between Bantam Pub, Breakfast at Barney’s or First watch where there isn’t anything on the menu that’s not tasty. Early afternoon of riding the electric scooters around the city near the stadiums and make a stop by the aquarium before it gets dark, then end with dinner at capital grille, hopefully they brought some nice clothes. We’re really simple people who love nature views so any of the nearby parks will suffice for a nice walk and we’re the people who support local business and food trucks so after this walk there’s normally plenty to snack on. Lastly some of our hangout spots include top golf and Andretti’s and when we’re baby free for date nights we enjoy the scene of Kat’z cafe (a local jazz club) or Apache Cafe (open mic venue) to tap into our more creative/artistic side.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to give a shoutout to our Church, Church Unchained, not only are they like family but are some of our biggest supporters. It’s a good feeling to walk into service on a Sunday and see your business being represented by multiple people in your own house. They were instrumental in encouraging us to see the vision and make it come to life. Their support came in the form of motivation, donations, wisdom, warnings, and most importantly love. So definitely huge shoutout to CU for all that you’ve done to support our business, we greatly appreciate you!
