We had the good fortune of connecting with Tikisha Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tikisha, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m a Connecticut girl in a southern world! LOL I am from Hartford, CT a city filled with billion dollar companies – but gripped by poverty. Hartford is known as the rising star and the truth is there are so many amazingly talented people in every sector you can think of – they are just often overlooked because it’s Hartford. I was raised by my mom who was a single parent, with the assistance of my nana, my aunts, my god-mother and sister many other women in my community. These women were strong women who knew how to make a dollar out of 15 cents and who made miracles happen every holiday and birthday – but I never saw any or should I say – many households led by a husband. My background was the calling card for “you don’t need a man!” And it taught me that early on. I never desired to be married – I didn’t see the point nor the purpose. Now being a wife for almost 17 years I realize that our homes were blessed with a lot , but they were also missing a lot! It impacts me today as a strategic coach for wives and women because I am committed to tearing down those barriers and mindsets that keep women in unhappy and unfulfilled marriages. Women don’t have to be the strong one all the time! They don’t have to carry their families on their shoulders. And every rough spot in a relationship is not cause to throw it away simply because you can “do bad all by yourself” NO we are going to do well IN our marriages and WITH our husbands so that our marriages can shape our communities, our states and our world as a whole!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Strategic Wife Coach I am able to walk along side wives who are (mainly) in 1 of 2 places. 1. She’s over it! Ready to throw in the towel and is willing to give it one more shot. Or 2. She a wife who has lost sight of who she is and her identity. Maybe she knew who she was before marriage but many times not. What sets me apart is that I believe 1 billion percent in God (the Father of Jesus, the Creator of the universe, the Alpha and Omega) and His ability to make all things new! I partner with His Holy Spirit for a strategic plan for each wife that includes practical tools and the Word of God for their next steps in marriage.

Along the way I have learned that tears don’t mean that a wife is ready to change because often times it’s not her husband that needs to change – it’s her. So we get to her bottom of the matter and work our way from the inside out allowing the Lord to transform her into the daughter, woman & wife that she was created to be!

It’s not easy because you can see bits of you in every wife and you also experience healing along with your clients so you have to stay professional and swallow your tears – be empathetic and not your clients crying buddy – that’s what she has friends for! LOL

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ohhh girl! I’d like to think that I could hang out with someone for a full week 😂🤦🏾‍♀️. However – if my best friend was coming into town I would be excited! I am right outside of Atlanta but I don’t get out much unless it’s an event. But I would so want to take them to Busy Bee in Atlanta – I went one time with my cousin and the chicken wings were clearly friend in that good old solid Crisco that comes in the can! I would definitely want to experience the Atlanta Ferris Wheel with them and then just explore. I really do love to explore and I would use that time to learn about things popular and off the beaten path.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanna thank ME! 😂 I’m sorry – I have been aching for a moment to use that line from Snoop Dog.

But really I want to thank every woman that has had an impact on my life especially my mom Cheryl Mills and every mentor whether you knew it or not! I salute you.
